First time at the Fort for us. Does anyone know what time the first boat is at fort wilderness to MK in the AM? And also does the bus to MK also run all the time? Trying to game plan our rope drop. Thanks
I don’t know about the buses as we never used MK buses at FW. I loved the boat. Iirc the boat was at least an hour before park open.
We never missed MK rope drop traveling from FtW. If MK is opening at 8:30, I’d probably be at the interior bus stop just before 7 am.
A foggy morning can prevent the boats from operating. We did take a bus then. Since covid I don’t know what Disney is doing about MK-FtW bus service.
It’s definitely back! Seems to be running like before. I don’t know if they have had or have now a FW to other resort bus though.
Does the bus to MK run even if the boat is also running? Or is the bus only available if the boat is not available? Does that make sense lol
According to the app they do have bus service as well. You use the internal bus to the front and then switch to the MK bus.
Thanks! Ok that’s what I thought….the MK bus is near the boat launch too right? So I could take either or without too much trouble?
No. It’s at the front at the Settlement Depot. That is where all the park buses are.
ETA: Not Settlement Depot. Sorry. The buses are at the Outpost.
Good to know! Thanks
Well crap….Ok so I have to decide before I leave in the morning which transportation option we will utilize
I think I would make the decision based on where I was in the camp ground. If I was closer to the lake I’d take the boat. It I was closer to the outpost I would take the bus. Also need to see if you have to take the internal bus system. Some sites are within walking distance too.
We will be in one of the old cabins….so closer to the front and buses. Reserved a gold cart though so no internal bus needed. Seems the buses might be faster anyway?
I’d go up to the Pioneer Hall area in your golf cart, plug it in for the day. And take the boat.
Or you could do boat one day and bus another.
Walking in from the busses seems longer. The boat just goes on the lake. The bus goes where the roads go, with traffic lights. And really, the difference in time matters very little unless you overslept.
Yes. There are outlets to plug the carts in at both places. The maps are not to scale. There’s quite a bit of distance from the Outpost to the first cabins. There’s more cart parking up by the Marina.
Makes sense…they have places to plug your golf cart at the settlement? Didn’t know that but I was wondering
Yes the walk from the boat to the park entrance is closer….forgot about that so def would negate any time difference if there was one.
There probably really is none.
We prefer being at the dock and on the boat
Plus, there used to be a nice play area just as you exit the sandy marina area. With a lounge area with rocking chairs and cold beverages. Between the Marina and your cart. Just saying.
For Epcot, AK and HS you’ll get to park near the Outpost, with no play area, cold beverages but there are smelly horses. ![]()
I think it is a much better way to start the morning. To the boat docks we will go!
Thanks…there is so much there! Hoping it all makes sense when we get there lol
