Fireworks, Fantasmic, & Paint the Night

We’ll have three nights in the park in March; two with the possibility of fireworks; Fantasmic, & Paint the Night. We’d love to watch the fireworks from Galaxy’s Edge one time. I’d love any advice on how we could try to see these over the two nights.

You’ll definitely want to try for fireworks both times it’s planned to be offered, in case there’s a night the winds force them to cancel. And do know that if you watch from a location that has projections, even if the fireworks don’t go, you’ll still get music, projections and a decent show (even absent the pyro).

If you are going on a night when Fantasmic has both a 9pm and 10:30pm, I’d plan to watch fireworks from Galaxy’s Edge at 9:30 and then Fanstasmic at 10:30pm. Then the second night watch fireworks from anywhere you’d most like to see them (Main St and small world are both very good viewing areas). And then watch the late Paint the Night Parade setting up in a spot after the fireworks on a bench in Town Square or along the Matterhorn Way walkway.

If you won’t have 10:30pm Fantasmic scheduled then you can watch fireworks from the same spot you watch Fantasmic. The music will be piped in, the water fountains will show the projections and you’ll be able to the big blasts going off (provided they do). And then the next night plan to watch fireworks at Galaxy’s Edge and either night watch the later Paint the Night Parade.

The viewing area in Galaxy’s Edge that will include projections is in the Millenium Falcon area. They tape off where you’re able to stand (to leave a walkway for access to the stairs & Smugglers Run ride), and the last time we watched from here they didn’t allow you to hang towards the back of the viewing area (where you could get a better holistic view of the spires & the bursts over it) so if they are still doing that you don’t want to show up too early (I would say check-in at 30 minutes to see how it’s looking and come back when it’s 15-20 min if it’s not looking more than half full), so you can be towards the back. You can do a loop up to the market or step into Dok Ondor’s close by in that 10-15 min to kill time.

And then to get to the Rivers of America from Millenium Falcon, you’ll want to walk down towards Rise & exit Galaxy’s Edge from the Bayou Country side. If you get a Rancho del Zocolo or River Belle standard or Blue Bayou dining package, then you’ll only have a short walk to the check-in for Fantasmic viewing across from Haunted Mansion exit near the Harbour Galley (but down closer to the waterfront of the Rivers). If you don’t have a dining package, there is a stand-by viewing area behind the dining sections on this side that usually doesn’t fill up. But you can also see what the stand-by situation is like closer to center/in front of Pirates since the late show shouldn’t be too high in demand.
