I have a resort view room booked at AKL on a bounceback. Anyone have a favorite resort view room you’ve gotten that has some partial savanna views?
After looking at the room finder, I was thinking about requesting Zebra trail. The rooms X4 even numbers and X5 odd numbers have some nice views. Even the ones in that first elbow that have views of the pool look nice and are close to the lobby.
I’m only booked two nights and will arrive by 9AM on Tuesday. Plan to hang at the pool all day Tuesday and use an after 4:00 ticket for Wednesday night extended hours at MK. Pool all day Thursday until our flight leaves at 9PM.
With our plans I’m almost tempted to just request the rooms nearest the pool since that is where we would spend most of our time but FOMO has me not wanting to miss out an some animal viewing from the balcony.
The only time I requested a partial savanna view room with a standard room booked, we got a pool view. Which was nice, but not a savanna view. I hope you have better luck than I did!
That said, the animal views from the lookouts are great and it can be nice being closer to the lobby / transport.
Good to know. How long ago was it that you had that room?
There are two rooms I stayed in at WL that were previously resort view (the cheapest) but now are classified as fireworks view (the most expensive). There were views of the dumpster below and delivery trucks came in and out with the back up beepers but it we could see the MK fireworks, Space Mountain, and the monorail.
I’d be totally happy with a pool view since that is where we plan to spend most of our time. And being close to the lobby/transport sounds great too. It’s just me and a friend. No kids.
I’m thinking I may just make a generic request of “any room in the Zebra Trail” since I like a lot of the resort view rooms in that area and many of them have some pool and savanna views.
I see. I’ve noticed that a lot of the room info TP has for various resorts is outdated. They still listed info about Magical Express long after it was gone.
I think I’ll stick with the generic any room in the Zebra Trail since I think I’d be happy anywhere in that area.
Looks like TP needs to update their resort category descriptions in the room finder. I’m loving these Resort View rooms you booked which actually had partial savanna views. The rooms you guys are posting aren’t listed as resort view rooms on the room finder. They are listed as savanna views.
Tagging @len wondering when the room description categories were updated. 2549 is listed on the room finder as savanna view.
They are listed as Savannah view in the tool but the description says “standard view”. It would be weird if AKL eliminated all their standard/resort views and changed them to Savannah
Yep, out of curiosity I also just checked and indeed the room that I just recommended (3110, Ostrich Trail) appers to now be listed as a savannah view in the TP room finder?
I will admit I can’t be certain that it was not already considered a savannah view when we stayed there 18 months ago, but when I checked in I mentioned that I had requested a partial savannah view and the CM confirmed that this request was accommodated. I would have thought that they would have told us that we’d been upgraded if this was the case?
I also assumed that it was considered a partial view rather than a savannah view because the vis-a-vis straight ahead is of another wing of the resort (rather than an open savannah), and there are some fences/work sheds visible if you look straight down. So it’s not the room I would recommend for someone who booked true “savannah view”.
If you look to the left, you can see many animals at the small watering hole and feeding area that are between the two wings of the resort. So for a “resort view”, we were VERY happy with it.

I have such great success with the room request feature. I generally ask for a specific building or set of buildings and always get it met at Pop and CBR.
