Epic Universe News & Planning Thread

4/10-4/17

  1. Wednesday & Thursday

  2. Yes. More would be cool, but you can see & do it all in two. (Especially, with Express Pass)

  3. Epic does offer a once per attraction Express Pass (UXP) There is not an unlimited ride option

  4. Your AP needs to be activated to buy discounted Epic tickets. You would have to wait until the first day of entry at USF/IOA to buy all your Epic tickets

  5. You can use multiple crowd calendar sites to compare. Try: Orlando Informer, Undercover Tourist or Is It Packed

Here is what is available, as of today, for Epic AP tickets.

Divert member of your party would need to have an activated AP to buy these tickets (each ticket is add to an AP).

I think your week is great but I would plan Epic early in the week (just in case some run Disney runners go to Universal 1st?) or 16-17 before NE vacationers arrive for their spring break and while the RunDisney event is taking place.

Strange, Monsters is not listed online for EPA…

thank you. Do you know if I buy an AP with monthly payments, does it activate, or I still have to scan into the park in order to buy Epic days? I think I’m too nervous to wait on buying. I will maybe go without the AP hotel rate.

Your AP is not active until you scan in at the parks. This does allow many people to take advantage of AP deals even if their travel dates are months away.

However, you really don’t need to show an AP at the hotel check-in to get your rate.

Manu of us, including myself, have booked AP rates without having an active AP

To follow up on @darkmite2 ’s post, if they ask you to show your AP tell them you are upgrading and you will come back with the AP later.

This very rarely happens.

Thank you. I always book on the AP rate, but have always had one. They never asked for it at check in, but I thought maybe it was connected in my account. Mine actually is within the 30 day expiration window, so maybe if I renew it will be active…

Yes.

A lot of people assume this as well. The hotels and the theme parks are operated by two seperate companies. They cooperate, but aren’t interconnected.

Stardust has reopened per the app.

Thank you. Is there some discussion in Lacava? I googled and saw a mix of answers, some very insistent you need to have an active pass by the time you check out they will change the rate. I might be too nervous to try, even though I personally have never been asked for a pass. I’m leaning toward 14 day tickets for the flexibility and not renewing any of our passes. I definitely would buy an AP if they said I needed one, but I have this fear of them not saying anything and then charging me an absurdly high rate after I’ve left…. I’ve made 2 different reservations for now.

There was a long post on the TP Uni chat (in the app). I will do a search here. Do you have the Uni app?

I will download it to my new phone

I will bump the thread for you.

I know the chat thread references a January 10th thread here, but I can’t find it. @Wahoohokie posted on that thread on chat so I am tagging her in the hopes she can share her experience booking the AP rate. I am also tagging @darkmite2 since I believe he can help.

I have no AP and have never had an AP. I booked at Cabana Bay with the AP rate. I was planning to say that my husband had the AP and he wasn’t with me if they had asked, but no one said a word.

To allievate your concerns… I have personally booked and received the AP rate while not having an active AP. I’m currently looking for HHN dates using the AP hotel rate with no AP.

The reason is because the hotels are operated by Lowes Hotel group, not Universal. Lowes has no access to the Universal systems. This is why there is a seperate “Vacation Planning” desk operated by Universal TMs in each looby.

The hotel TM at check-in is not even employed by Universal. They can only see your reservation not anything about your tickets, even if it’s a “hotel package” with tickets involved. The tickets would be managed by Universal

They only care that you have the credit card & ID used to hold the reservation.

Besides, you can literally buy an AP at that “Vacation Planning” desk in the hotel lobby if it ever truly came to that. I always pick up my paper tickets / AP at that desk.

I have stayed so many times with the AP rate over the past 10 years, and most of those times I didn’t have an AP. This year so far at Aventura and Stella Nova. No issues at all, though I sometimes carry around an old AP to flash at them in case they ask. But they never ask.

That is so smart since they cannot scan the AP! I have had the same AP since 2021.
