Sorry, I should’ve said something yesterday but was completely swamped and didn’t have a chance to. They’ve made a lot of visual improvements over the last couple of years though, looks nice.
Of course, Microsoft piled on yesterday and pushed some stealth update yesterday for 365 that added some restrictions that also killed the automation I was using to run my import and number cruncher things every 2 hours.
Plus it also removed all of the hacks I made to my ribbon and Quick access toolbar so now I’m trying to remember how I created some of those things years ago.
(Which also means my IT dept is going to start getting some phone calls in 3… 2… 1…)
Fantastic price for this room - Especially for a full week! Lowest August listing recorded, next nearest price in data was $150/night more and was only a 3-nighter.
7-night Bay Lake Tower 2 Bedroom 08/05 for $602/night or 44% under median
Including this one more for the uniqueness than the OK near-median price. But if you need a LONG stay, this sure covers it. FWIW: The Disney cash rate for this room with the current 20% discount is $492/night incl tax.
10-night Saratoga Springs Studio 10/21 for $328/night or 3% OVER median
@JJT - my son and his GF are hoping to book Beach Club Villa (DVC rental) for sometime the last 3 weeks of January or the last 3 weeks of February. My search on your site shows a few, but 20+% over median. I tried a historical search but nothing came up (suggesting I’m doing something wrong.) I know it’s a popular resort, is he likely to find anything closer to median, or has the moment passed? The DVC rentals look like they’re ~$100 under rack rate, which doesn’t seem like a deal to me, but this isn’t a property I follow. Is that the best they’re likely to see?
I don’t have historical data in the current search engine due to the size of the data - one of these days I’ll get back to either including it or setting up a separate past listing search, but I need to work through a better method of importing the data for that larger set.
In general, Beach Club is always going to be a tough get, but it is possible if you keep an eye out.
Below are my historical data charts for JAN and FEB. I set the green bar to be at 20% under median just to have something really good to shoot for, but in reality anything at or just below median is going to be a win.
You’ll notice in both price by days out charts, a majority of BC listings appear at 11 months out and it diminishes over time. Also, looking at the table on the bottom right of those charts, you can see often the number of listings 20% below median are counted in the single digits each year.
January is probably the more likely bet as there were 70 more listings in the data than from Feb.
The more things you lock yourself into, the faster the likelihood of a good deal showing up drops. Looking for a single resort in a small window AND that resort being the most popular will take some luck! I hope the luck shows up!
