These are “only” 6% under median for CC studios, but out of curiosity did a quick long range analysis:
TL;DR:
Have there been similar or lower prices for this room in April?
Yes, but very few at 3-nights or longer.
If I REALLY wanted to stay at CC in the high holy days of April and were comfortable with an 11-month (usually) non-refundable booking, I might go with this slightish under median price rather than hope something better shows up later AND I am lucky enough to snag it.
3-night Copper Creek Studio 04/04 for $468/night or 6% under median
3-night Copper Creek Studio 04/11 for $468/night or 6% under median
Last night someone told me they were having issues loading my search engine.
I did see an issue with server load levels, but was beyond my access at my hosting company. I cleared some Wordpress and caching and it seemed to help, but looks like it might be happening again this morning.
I’m driving up to pick up DD at college so won’t be able to check until later, not sure what’s up or if someone is hammering my server from the outside…
Seems a bit slow to me too. I don’t see any browser console errors that would be an obvious tell either. You could try setting up a free Cloudflare plan to see if it prevents bot requests. Possibly on the server level, but not sure how else you could look into it.
I don’t have SSH or anything at that level set up I need to hit my hosting company to get them to turn it on so I can see processes. It’s kind of weird.
What’s really weird by the way is that when the page does load you can see the last time is 8:00 p.m. last night. When I check my server it is running normally every hour so it’s like my WP data tables is just not importing the data. Maybe because of the server being hammered? It is frustrating using shared hosting when you can’t see anything from the control panel.
I still have no idea what is going on with my web site pages timing out and it seems to be worse now.
Have been on with hosting support since I got home tonight, but getting nowhere. They are passing it off to engineering.
My brain is full, but my guess is a Wordpress plugin update is somehow killing my WP install or it is up the river at the server level I have no access to.
Still trying to figure out what is happening, no response from my hosting co yet.
Is annoying since my hosting access has very limited view into what is happening and for my own installs I am not seeing anything negative at all - beyond my wordpress admin panel being slow and non-responsive too.
I kind of want to go back to an old backup and see what that does, even though there have been no changes recently. But, I’m going to hold off on that to see if my host comes up with anything on their side.
So, result: sometimes (most times now?) search pages load, sometimes they load an old cached version until I flush cache.
I wonder if your site never threw a 508/503 error because even though you were resource constrained, you still technically had enough to choke through eventual loading. They probably didn’t catch it in your case because you weren’t throwing an error so your resource limit was never reset to default.
Anyway, seems to be working fine for me now. Glad it’s back.
MEDIAN CAVEAT
Hilton Head has a weird median in December: not that many data points AND 2024 had a bunch of $156 and lower listings, which drove the median down.
Last year only 7 total listings, 4 of those $240/n and above and 2 at $156 and $102/n.
TL;DR: My take is any sub $200 Disney room is a win, even if the location and date will be #sweataweatha.
5-night Hilton Head Island Studio 12/12 for $187/night or 20% over median
BTW, Really not great news for Boardwalk medians in June this year!
That red dotted line living way above the others for most of the year is some bad mojo.
Yes, you can check in online and not show up until a day or two later. I did that for Poly one time. Should be the same for HHI, but you can always call the front desk and confirm that you are checked in.
