Oh man.
I haven’t been too happy with the page loading times of the search engine, so today I tested out a different type of table creation using my plugin.
The current search is using a data file I have shared out on the Interwebz that gets pulled in automagically whenever it is updated - which is so great since I have many fewer clicketys to click.
But, I suspected the method my plugin is using to grab it is actually creating a huge amount of overhead every time the page is loaded.
So, at lunch I created a manual table by importing my data file by hand and the resulting page is super zippy so far.
Problem is: my plugin oddly has no way to set up automatic re-imports to a manual table, so I need to cobble together something at the mysql level for the data to be updated without my having to hit the wpadmin page every 2 hours when my scripts run. I need to do some playing around for that to happen, but hopefully will have a better user experience once I get the time to work it out. ![]()
For fun, right now you can try out my test manual table here that contains the last import data from 4PM today. It is not a perfect copy of the current search engine, I didn’t set up some of the formatting since it is just a test.
I probably won’t be manually updating the data this page is using, but for now it is the most recent - and I’ll be trying out my automagic scripts so I could bork it at some point when I get around to testing something.
(I’ll also delete this test page later when I get my technique worked out and deployed to the current search engine page.)
$85.50/night tomorrow? ![]()
I may have to block this thread…..
I told DH about it on our way home from Hilton Head. He was sorry it could not be worked out. We seriously enjoyed HHI Resort
It was super fast!
You did make a fan out of him! I’m sure it’s easier with the 2 girls vs the whole group. Hopefully a great deal comes your way in 2026!
My prediction was wrong, and you don’t have to block this thread. The reservation is gone
YAY for the owners to get it off their plate and YAYxYAY for whomever picked it up!
If you want to be there on Christmas, this is a hot deal for this room!
2-night BW 1 Bedroom 12/24 for $600/night or 32% under median
Notably it is “only” about 19% under median when comparing to all past listings for BW 1BRs - but when just comparing to December listings it is the 32% under shown above.
I don’t think I highlighted this DL Duo Studio when it appeared the other day. Is a very nice price for this room any time - but especially for a 4-night stay!
4-night DLH Studio (Duo) 05/11 for $312/night or 22% under median
6-night OKW Studio 04/27 for $308/night or 20% under median
vs all listings 2-nights or longer:
Just looking at listings >=6 nights.
Looking at the Price by Days out charts - if looking at >=2-nights, you might expect a decent chance of grabbing an April listing down around this price as time goes on - especially around 40-60 days out from this date.
But again - looking at >=6-nights for apples-apples, good luck with waiting.
NEW
Not a “cheap” room, but a very good price for this BLT 2BR in January!
When looking at only 4-nights or longer this is the lowest price recorded for that room.
4-night BLT 2 Bedroom 01/13 for $791/night or 24% under median
If you limit this table to 4-nights or longer, all of the nearby dots go away - very, very unlikely to see another deal anywhere near this price for January.
While this one is “only” 14% under median - IMHO you can follow the same analysis I posted for the OKW April listing yesterday.
5-night SSR Studio 04/12 for $300/night or 14% under
Looking at the Price by Days Out chart below, we might infer we’ll see some similar listings or lower in the 30-75 days out time frame, BUT in reality even if we do there won’t be many of them. Those dots in the chart are aggregate over 3 prior years, so we’re talking a possible 3 to 5 of them if the trend continues.
Price Drop
5-night SSR Studio 12/12 orig $304/night now $248/n or 30% under median
In reality - a very rare price point for 5-nights or longer in December!
4-night BW Studio 01/22 for $310/night or 21% under median
Slow day for new listings today, but if you want to both splurge and stay over Christmas:
Both of these are FAR below any other Dec listing this year for the same room type & most from other years - plus as a 6-night and PREFERRED over Christmas: this is about as good as it gets for these room.
6-night Riviera 1 Bedroom 12/23 for $718/night or 33% under median
6-night Riviera 2 Bedroom 12/23 for $963/night or 37% under
In theory if you get the 2nd listing you are basically getting a studio for $245/night which is a fabulous deal for the Riviera!
Another price drop for this room! There has only been one other listing for this room slightly lower (2023) and is now the lowest 5-night or longer recorded.
6-night SSR 2 Bedroom 12/16 orig $872/night now $545/n or 42% under median
NEW!
Both of these are pretty rare prices for February.
2-night OKW Studio 02/22 for $240/night or 27% under median
In fact, this DLH studio is not only a rare price for the room type - almost unheard of for 5-nights!
5-night DLH Studio 02/22 for $391/night or 22% under median
This is a completely bonkers price for this room over Christmas. That is all.
6-night BW Studio 12/21 for $200/night or 60% under median
wow
