DVC You There! - Now with Bonus Content

A few nice May & June 1-nighters in early refresh, plus this:

2-night BW Studio 07/09 for $324/night or 22% under

Also, a SUPER VERY NICE PRICE DROP:

8-night BC 1 Bedroom 05/24 orig $822/night now $526/n or 34% under median

Looking at all listings for this room 2-nights or longer, this is a pretty rare price…

Looking at 7-nights or longer, this is the 2nd lowest price recorded, and far below most other listings.

Looking at just May listings - very, very rare price for 1 or 2-night listings and otherwise nothing priced anywhere near this for longer rentals.

2-night BLT 2 Bedroom 05/19 for $552/night or 52% under median

Ya ain’t likely to see a lower listing for this room in May.

3-night CC Cabin 05/20 for $1,010/night or 55% under

Have only been 29 listings for this “room” since 2023 and only THREE in May - this one blows the other prices away.

3-night BR 2 Bedroom 05/26 for $492/night or 44% under

1-night BW Studio 06/08 for $310/night or 25% under

1-night BW Studio 07/21 for $297/night or 28% under

5-night Aulani 2 Bedroom 02/08 for $1225/night or 18% under

While there have been much lower prices last year in the Sept - Nov time frame, I think I’d consider this a good price for February time frame, since it is rare around then.

7-night AK Kidani Studio 07/05 for $286/night or 19% under

Looking at the Price by Days Out chart for 2-nights or longer, looks, it’s a pretty nice price, but not the best, and you might expect to see more show up, but…

Ratcheting down to 7-nights or longer, you can see it is a pretty rare thing to see in July.

4-night Poly Studio 08/25 for $400/night or 24% under

3-night OKW Studio 09/02 for $187/night or 34% under

Is DVC Shop one of those sites that doesn’t ever take off old links or is this one still truly available?

Sorry, not sure. No way for me to know if they’re leaving links up after listings are booked.

About 30 new rentals today, but nothing too exciting in those.

Price Drop:

5-night AK Jambo 1 Bedroom 06/08 orig $607/night now $449/n or 22% under median

Lowest price recorded for this room in June for stays 3-nights or longer.
There was only a single 2-night priced lower back in 2023.

4-night CC Studio 09/06 for $311/night or 21% under

Looks like for September, most lower price CC studios tend to show up way out beyond the 200 days out mark for listings of 4-nights or longer, so if this is an attractive listing to you, I wouldn’t sit on booking it.

SUPER DUPER PRICE DROP:
5-night SSR Treehouse 05/16 orig $1,170/night now $360/n or 58% under median

When just looking at May - this one wins the price award hands down.

5-night BW Studio 08/17 for $336/night or 19% under median

Looking at all August listings for this room 2-nights or longer, you might think there’s a decent chance of catching another lower priced listing over the next weeks…

But when looking at a more candy apples to candy apples 5-night or more, not only does this listing look more better compared to that more specific median - I’ve only recorded 2 multinight listings around this price closer to check in.

As you can see from the cloud of orange dots on the left, many more 1-nighter listings close in.

Keep meaning to ask about this @JJT and it just showed up in my latest search this morning

Where you have “latest price” it is showing as higher than the “original price” by $14. This raises two questions:

  1. Do listings increase in price very often?
  2. If it’s an increase, why the parentheses? I am familiar with parentheses used to show a debit to a number.

Help me understand? Thanks!

Very few listings ever increase in price - here’s the stats just using past rentals:

So, out of the 7,936 rentals that ever changed in price (~19%), 218 were increases.
So, only 2.7% of changed rentals were increases.

Those 218 increases translate to only 0.52% of ALL 41,816 rentals.

When it comes to the parentheses - I actually flip-flopped on that decision and I get your take on ($debits) as the standard.

I eventually decided that because decreases are both the majority of changes AND the desired outcome, it was visually easier to present the decreases as a positive number.

I was betting most people don’t think in terms of that parentheses = negative number accounting standard and would just be easier for people to parse.

Also, I thought that if people somehow understood ()
usually means a negative number AND an increase
is a negative outcome - that kind of lines up.

But, of course I’m just playing mind games there.

So then what’s the accurate price on that one, and was it an increase?
Latest price shows $340/nt - is that what I would go on? Seems like it based on current total cost

“Latest Price” is always the current price.
“Original Price” is what it was on first capture.

If I recall correctly on that one, it increased in price either the same day it appeared or maybe the next day.

Stay tuned… about to post a few more Sept rentals from the 1:10pm refresh.

There were a few more sub $200 1-night rentals in 1pm refresh, plus a lowish $300s Poly I think.

2-night OKW Studio 07/06 for $209/night or 26% under median

2-night OKW Studio 09/03 for $171/night or 40% under

2-night Poly Studio 09/10 for $308/night or 41% under
