🧴 Do you reapply?

I was reading a thread on “must carry essentials” and a lot of people said sunscreen.

In 14 trips to Orlando I have (a) never reapplied and (b) never had sunburn.

Do you reapply?

No. I have an olive-ish skin tone and I’ve only ever burned when lying on the beach and being stupid about sunscreen. Moving around the parks, in and out of shade, it’s not a problem for me. I apply in the morning, if at all, and that’s it.

I have to because I burn easily, but I am the only one in my family who needs to reapply.

Yes - I try to reapply every few hours for me and my kids. We use mineral sunscreen so it doesn’t really wash off the skin but I’m super sun-aware after having melanoma a few years ago.

I should add that I know my lazy sunscreen habits are not smart. You still get skin damage even without burning.

No, I never do these days. The only time I’ve had a bad sunburn there, I was reapplying and it was at Blizzard Beach back in 2000.

My face and neck, yes. Because with the humidity it is sometimes almost like going for a swim and comes off.

No. Your next trip is in December, so you should not be all that hot and sweaty such that you wash away the sunscreen. I agree that you are in and out of the attractions/buildings enough to really reduce your sun time. As you said, you have experience without reapplying - and not getting sunburned.

I’ve always been very wary of the sun, because I am light-skinned and have had sunburns in the past. I think I’ve trained myself to avoid direct sunlight as much as possible.

This year I have been a little experimental. I used to wear a wide-brimmed hat, which completed shaded my face and neck, but it was hot and heavy and uncomfortable. During my June trip I used a sunbrella, which was so much better and allowed me to go hat-free, leaving my head cooler. In New York in August I bought a bucket hat, that can be completely folded away and put in a pocket when not in use, and that was pretty good and very convenient.

I don’t reapply unless I’m swimming or really sweating. I try to stay out of direct sun, though. I had sun poisoning when I was 15, and I’ve been sensitive ever since then.

I almost never wear sunscreen.
I should have at the beach this month. But parks? No.

No. Even forgot to apply one day, I was fine. …I don’t hang out in the baking sun at a pool or beach.

We use zinc oxide. No need to reapply.

Also, we are inside more than outside.

If it’s sunny then I will reapply to my face and neck, as @heathernoel said.

And it’s nice to see you again.

Yes. I’ve had several bouts of skin cancer (basal cell, thankfully).

I’m super careful. If I’m not dressing in a cute outfit, I’ll wear a hat.

Yes! I put on a coat before heading out in the morning. Then a quick reapply mid-morning. I’ll add a final application before we go back out after our afternoon break,

I’ve had too many fun times destroyed by sunburn!

I always feel so bad for the people exiting the parks who are so red that you know the rest of the night is going to be awful for them!

Yes, we have a history of melanoma in my family so I’ve gotten more diligent about it the past few years. We apply in the morning and then again after our afternoon break. Maybe an extra time in there somewhere if I feel like I’m getting more sun than usual.

Yes because my kids are sensitive. We at least do out face after lunch. Technically, for most it won’t last all day.

I have an olive skin tone and don’t burn easily. In August I was three days into my trip before I realized I wasn’t using sunscreen at all. DW usually is the one to bring it along. I bought a can of spray-on for Typhoon Lagoon, which was a smart move as I was out in the sun a bit more at the water park.

With the kids, we usually apply once in the morning and only reapply if we go swimming (mostly to get the parts that are covered by their regular clothes). If we are going back to the parks close enough to dusk, we don’t reapply after swimming.
