Dining Plan credit use question- we added a day

We have a split stay. I’m staying for 3 nights at Pop with my two youngest (3 and 7) and we have the dining plan for that stay. We had originally only planned 2 nights, but just added a day to the start. DW and DS12 arrive after.

We will have 3 sit down credits, each, right?

We are staying at Pop and don’t arrive until evening, so no ADRs that first day.
Second Day we have no park tickets and are doing Chef Mickey’s at 5pm
Third day we have park tickets and Storybook Dining (plan to pay oop) at 4:25 and Spice Road Table fireworks package at 8:30
Fourth day DW and DS arrive, we check out of POP, and we have 'Ohana at noon.

I had set my plan for two credits - Chef Mickey and 'Ohana, but now I need to add another sit-down meal, outside the park, and I’m struggling a bit.

Any suggestions? We could do Cape May on our second day for Breakfast. It’s a lot of character meals, but we like that. Thoughts? I had hoped to let the kids sleep in and hit the pool (weather permitting) but I could get them up and go to breakfast and then come back for the pool.

Why not use them for Storybook Dining at WL? Or the fireworks dining?

Or book as late as you can for Cape May breakfast. I do like that one.

We are trying the chsracter breakfast and dinner at 1900 Park Fare. I have heard that the food is very good.

I think that Storybook Dining is a 2 credit meal.

Oh, I didn’t realise Storybook was a 2-credit meal.

Yeah. Storybook is 2 credits and the fireworks don’t take the dining plan.

We had decided to just go ahead and use two credits for the Storybook and pay ‘Ohana out of pocket, then I looked up the prices. Storybook is such a terrible use of two credits that I’m having really hard time using the “extra” credit that way.

Chef Mickey $69 adult/$44 child
Snow White $67 adult/$41 child
‘Ohana $53 adult/$33 child

If only Disney would jack up the price of Storybook so this is better math for me /sarcasm.

I considered that, but we’re doing it about 2 weeks later with a group of cousins.

What’s the latest breakfast time for Cape May? And does that give you time to give the kids the late start you planned?

Otherwise, if you’re struggling to find another TS that works then maybe the dining plan isn’t worth paying for.

What about Boma breakfast at AKL?

Yeah. We had booked the room for two nights with the dining plan. Then when we added the night at the start the CM on the phone worked some magic and it cost less than $100 for the extra night. So that’s a win either way. Probably we’ll just use the credits for Snow White and Chef Mickey and pay oop for ‘Ohana, but I hate to use the credit like that.

That’s a great idea. I do like Boma, especially as it’s an excuse to visit AKL. I’ll have to think about logistics of the buffet with two kids, but a definite maybe!

Some things to consider:

Storybook at 4:25 and Spice at 8:30 feels like really tight timing.

Substituting any other restaurant for either of those 2 times and it still feels like tight timing.

You have until Midnight of Day 4 to use your credits. What are you plans for dinner on day 4 (AKA arrival day of Stay # 2)?

Oh yeah buffet may be difficult. What about Topolinos breakfast? Or lunch somewhere at Disney Springs?

Went ahead and booked Cape May at 9:55 for now. It’s late enough to sleep in a bit, but not so late it’ll kill the whole day. I know it’s buffet too, but Cape May is so much smaller than Boma.

We’re actually driving over to Cape Canaveral to meet my sister right after ‘Ohana. So we won’t have a chance to do another sit down that day.

First world problems for sure.

I could possibly cancel Snow White if I can pick up Akershus. And maybe cancel the fireworks seating too. I just really hate scoping out a spot and the kids can’t see over everything. We wouldn’t necessarily be doing a lot of eating. I wish they would bring back the Epcot dessert parties. That’s really what we want.

I’m really shocked they haven’t. I loved them.

I didn’t think they let you use table service credits for fireworks package meals.

They don’t. We aren’t planning to use a credit for that.

I keep mulling over your comment about the timing, and I think we’re going to be ok, but maybe check my math?
4ish- arrive at WL and check in for Snow White.
4:30-6- Dinner (could be quicker than this depending on characters)
6-8- make our way to Epcot/SRT
8:30- check in for fireworks

I do realize it’s one ADR followed by another, but we’re planning a busy morning, so resting at dinner and then on the transportation and then at fireworks seems ok. Maybe it’s a bit too much rushing? I dunno.

The alternate would be to try to go to Epcot and see if there’s an early Akershus. The kids want a princess meet meal. But they’re pretty excited about seeing the Queen. She’s really excellent.

Are you eating at both? If so, it may not be too much rushing, but it would definitely be too much food too close together for us!

I mean… there’s food at both. But we’d likely just pick at food at SRT. It’s mostly for the reserved fireworks view. I’d prefer Rose and crown, but there’s no availability. Alas.
