I think all of Spring is around a 7 on average…might get an occasional 1 off lower but spring is busy
If you won’t go with 7-10 crowds, go in September. March/April will always be more crowded than late September when there are no school breaks like in the spring. Or go both times and compare!
That’s what I would do.
Really appreciate your comments. I am very familiar with the general crowd patterns. Been going for 50 years. Last year 3rd week of April. This year mid May and either last week Sept or 3rd week of October. But as you may know there exist certain special weeks such as 3rd week in Oct, mid Nov week after Jersey week but before Thanksgiving and the two weeks after Thanksgiving but before Christmas rush starts. So what I am still wondering does the late Easter, but many school boards keeping March break in last two weeks of March and first week of April make Apr 6 to 13 this year a special lower crowd time before the two weeks around Easter.
I don’t know if anyone has the answer to that. If Easter is 4/20 I would think 4/6-13 would be a pretty great time to go. We went the first week of April many years, and sometimes it was lower crowds and other times it was higher crowds. But it was always fun. ![]()
Are you back from France
?
I haven’t even gone yet. I leave next Wednesday morning.
Oops…
Again, thanks very much. Yeah this is a really high level question even for us planners. Have sent it directly to the Touring Plan people. Hopefully, I will get a decent reply. They normally reply good but sometimes assume that the request is coming from someone with relatively little knowledge of the many, many variables re these issues.
We loved Easter in the 1990’s but the crowds were so much less then.
In 2019, that 2nd week of April saw a great dip.
But, post pandemic all non-summer months are busier than in the past, so that is a factor too…
I would reference this site. He should be updating it for 2025 in the not too distant future. I think this is the most reliable weekly crowd calendar that I have read (I use all of them and cross reference them). There is also a section where you can email or ask a question and engage in a dialog with the author of the site, Dave Shute. He was very helpful to me when I had a similar question a couple years ago during my Easter trip
He ranks every week 1-52 based on different criteria like cost, crowds, offerings, weather, etc.
Wow that is a great site. Can’t believe I was unaware of it prior to now. Submitted the question to Dave re that “special week”. Noticed on his school break bar graph that this year that week is low for school breaks so hoping same for next year. Would think that a later Easter would not pull non Easter related school breaks to that week from their usual late March first week of April scheduling.
Great info. Thx very much. How do you know that that specific week in 2019 when Easter was late took a big dip?
Great site, he does good work
Touring plans historical crowd data. I looked up a list of Easter dates and then checked the crowd calendar for April on touring plans for that year. Quite a nice little dip!
So I have “discovered” a special week? Good weather, low crowds, WDW staffing on high because crowds the 3 weeks before and the two weeks after?
Disney has announced free dining plan for UK ends April 5 starts back up end of April after Easter. So Disney appears to expect that second week of April to be busy. I dont get it.
So again in 2025 with a very late Easter the second week before Easter but after spring breaks in late March and first week of April looks REALLY REALLY GOOD. yes? no?
I’m a poor one to ask, since I’m only a TP subscriber, not their statistician @SteveBloom . He would have much better insights.
I only know what TP’s crowd calendar shows for next March and April, until Easter. In 2025, Holy Week (Palm Sunday through Easter Sunday) and Passover are roughly the same week, Saturday 4/12- Sunday 4/20. That one week the CL is mostly 8s during the weekdays. The three weeks before that have 7s during the week (CL6 on 3/28) - they are identical to each other. No sign of a sweet spot with one week of even lower CL.
If you have a week you want to try - go for it! There’s not much difference between CLs that are only 1 step apart. Maybe you’ve figured out one to aim for.
I mean, it’s possible. I think a lot of schools have spring break in March on a fixed week (including us up here in Canada), and a lot of US schools seem to link it to Easter. So I wouldn’t be surprised if that week (or the beginning of April in general) is a bit less busy. I would assume it’s a fairly good time to go, and be pleasantly surprised if it was a 5 or less.
In 2023 Easter was Apr 9, so I assumed the week of Apr 9-15 would be busy and I believe it was. The sweet spot was then around the 16th-22 (I remember this because I was reading some crazy slow trip reports!). I arrived Apr 21 and it was still slow for a few days, then picked up again the next week of Apr 23. The 26th was much busier. The point of all this is that I don’t think the week after Easter was predicted to be that slow. So you never know!
