Fall vaccine update from YLE. We’ve basically stalled out at :woman_shrugging:. Sigh.

Sigh. I really want to be wrong in thinking there are going to be regrets.

Guess we’re getting to the point when longer term consequences studies are starting to come out.

ETA: Anyone having ā€œWalmart potentially selling radioactive shrimpā€ on their bingo card?!?

Anyone want to weigh in more about the fall vaccines? I am so, so confused, and I’m trying to keep up to date. I’ve asked the drs at my teens’ recent physicals and their info is way out of date, according to the news. They think I can just go to immunizations at the base hospital (these are military drs) and ask for it. THey seemed not to know about the stuff in the news about having to go to your dr first. I was trying to preemptively get letters for my kids saying they should have the vaccine when it comes out.

I’ll be interested to see if Military Medical follow the new CDC guidelines. New guidelines: if you are not over 65 yo you must have one of the qualifying items on a list to checked off to receive it. One dr. recommended using the item: ā€˜not physically active’, if you meet no other qualifying items.

I was thinking this as well. Not that it matters to me - since qualifying for Medicare I haven’t been to a military immunization clinic.

Curious, do you have TriCare for Life along w/ Medicare? I have to do that application this year myself.

Yes
Yes, I do.

And so far, very happy with it.

But then I’ve got only a few morbidities and they’re common, like hypertension.

I do make the 70 miles round trip 4 times a year to the army pharmacy for my meds.

We stopped at Aviano & Lakenheath AB to get my Rx’s refilled :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: LH was a problem child but Aviano was great. I’ll be going by PAFB this winter. Nothing is near me

The local army post near me has a get in line app. Streamlines the whole thing so well.

But I’ve only used it a few times. Most recently I thought I had new scripts and texted the hospital pharmacy line. After a bit I recvd a text saying I didn’t have any new scripts but I could pick up the refills I still had at the px pharmacy.

I was impressed.

I think I am in a shared data base among participating army facilities tho each post seems to have their own number to text get in line to.

I LOVED when they digitized the pharmacy and started communicating through texts, it made life easier! And I do know that all our info linked throughout the military b/c while in the EU (stopped at two different bases in two different countries) they just looked me up in their system. It wasn’t perfect b/c one Rx they had to do a work around for but other than that it was GREAT.

Yeah, working with different or even changing formularies is interesting.

I’m going to ask here since you all seem to have a wealth of knowledge and I am the worst w/ search engines. I’m trying to find out if we can get our flu & covid jabs while in Greece. I know last year an MD said, ā€œI’ll have to look around b/c I am unaware that it’s available here (c-19 vac)ā€ He never found it and we ended up back in the states and grabbed them. While at Lakenheath AB, I asked and they said I could come back in the fall when they were issued but we won’t be there…. soooooo, I’m on the hunt b/c I’d like them before we take that transatlantic relocation cruise

Summary

In other news, my DD & fam has changed her plans to meet us at WDW due to the news about vaccination policies in FL :grimacing:

I searched unsuccessfully also

In MO CVS has covid vaccines so possibly most locations. In case you can get shots in the states before going overseas

Thank you for looking. We are currently overseas and will be returning, to the states, for a few months over the holidays before returning back to the EU. I’d like to get the jabs here but not very hopeful. I’ll reach out to our sailing group here too.

Do you have to get it at a base? I have a good friend that has family in Greece. I can ask her to see if she can get some info?

no we don’t have to go to a mil base…. and I would be grateful if you would ask your friend in Greece for guidance :folded_hands: Thank you for offering :two_hearts:

My friend is back in the US right now. She said that the flu shot should be no problem. You should be able to go to any pharmacy in Greece to get it. She is messaging a cousin about Covid. She believe you need to be a Greek citizen to get that. I will let you know.
