One thing I like about duckbill N95’s: their flat fold means they can fit in a bag without getting squished. They make good backups for that reason.

I saw that this morning. And yet. We were as close to full house on campus today as we’ve been all year. Still crossing my fingers that it is just a little blip. Maybe?

Interesting article. Dates of this study were Aug 1 to Sept 9, 2022. They studied only flights into JFK from UK, the Netherlands, and France.

Has anyone found a good disposable KN95 mask for young kids (around age 5) that you are satisfied with? I have had trouble finding one that fits DS5 and also provides a decent seal around the bridge of his nose. I have found some KF94s that work, but the boat shape is harder for him to put on himself after lunch and snack at preschool.
I don’t have small kids, so I don’t have experience with how particular masks fit kids, but I use Wellbefore masks and they make three KN95 sizes for children. I use the one for ages 9-12 because I have a small face and I really like them. They have ones with adjustable ear loops and ones without.

Yes, we got the 9205s after I asked for n95 suggestions here a couple of months ago. It’s what I wear when delivering food to my hubby in isolation now. I have also been wearing it in our family room/kitchen to keep my daughter from getting it in case I am next. Today is day 6, and so far so good for my daughter and for me!

Oh! Thank you. I used the simplistic instructions on the individual mask wrapper which were pretty elementary. It said to see carton or elsewhere for instructions which I thought odd since the instructions were on the wrapper. It must be directing to the fit test instructions! I will look at that.

We really do need better public health communication. My in-laws caught a “cold” 2 weeks ago. They live in a senior living apartment complex with both independent living residents (like them) and assisted living residents in same building but different section. Same dining staff. Anyway, when they told us they had a cold, we told them they should test for Covid…could get paxlovid which at ages 78&81 (both diabetic) is a good idea. They said they can’t see a doctor fast enough….to make the 3-5 day turnaround for Rx. Didn’t know where to test, etc.
I can’t believe the complex doesn’t have a game plan and instructions for residents. Even some antigen test kits on hand. My in-laws practically work there…staff tell new residents that my in-laws, not staff! are the point of contact! So they know all the ins and outs….they haven’t just missed the Covid communication along the way.
And wouldn’t the complex want to prevent spread in a community setting like that!?
There should be a public health snap shot on nightly news. Daily reminders of what to do if you have symptoms because those most at risk still watch the nightly news. They aren’t reading news on the internet. And most of their younger loved ones who can advise them don’t know either since they have decided the pandemic was over a year or more ago!

Anecdotally, I know more people who have had Covid in the last 3 weeks than any other three week period over the last three years. And they are from all different regions.
South Dakota bestie…her in-laws….6 cases, not transmitting to one another…separate interactions…they haven’t been around each other.
our children’s minister at church…community transmission here in GA passed onto her dad and child. Our pastor traveled to Nashville…got it there…followed by his wife. (Hubby not around them since they were out 2 weeks so his case is unrelated) My husband’s coworker in Virginia tested positive same day as my husband. Now his wife. Friend from TX her sister-in-law in NY tested positive same day as my hubby after out of town family came for a visit and decided not to tell her they were getting over Covid.

I agree with . Can’t believe the family didn’t tell her/give her an option. I don’t know if they traveled by car or airplane.
Thank you! Hubby has improved in the way he feels each day. Mild respiratory symptoms started after day 0. But nothing bad. He is getting antsy to leave isolation. So I will be asking all of you in the next day or two how we go about making sure it’s “safe” for him to leave isolation. My daughter’s team made it to elite 8 and her next game is Tuesday. He really hopes to test that day and be negative so he can attend the game.

Here are the CDC guidelines. Note that if leaving isolation between days 5 and 10, they recommend masking even around your household family members. So personally, I would just ignore that (unless there is a pressing need) and just go straight with the test-to-exit procedures under “removing your mask”.

The Lucira Covid-19 home test (without flu) is currently $34.99 per test kit. In my opinion, that doesn’t bode well for pricing on the combined Covid/flu test.
