Aliens
Well that does explain the mountain of a poke bowl…
Cruising through South Carolina with my son driving, checked my email and saw a Disney Rewards Survey. Checking it out, this is the first question. Can’t answer honestly since they’re is no All of the Above answer.
🙋 waving from Charlotte as you drive by!
Got divorced?! I mean, I know that Disney vacations can be stressful for some families, but that’s a bit extreme.
Safe travels home!
This girl. I once ended a marriage at Disney World. EPCOT. Best day of my life now that I reflect on it…
When you walk by that spot don’t you always think about it???
No, actually. I think I had one moment the first time I was there after it had happened. But I only went back to MK as a solo adult post-divorce. The next time I was at EPCOT following the incident, I had kids (with me). And every time since. And I’m so focused on whether they’re enjoying themselves or what food is nearby or how long it’s been since they went potty, that I haven’t had the opportunity to really reflect on it. But I assume the first time I do a solo trip again I’ll process it all more fully…
We plan to hit Dahlia Lounge when we stay in the Tower after our cruise. The view look amazing.
I love it up there.
Back to work today!
Was a great trip, but with the heat we’re toying with the idea of starting to celebrate my Mom’s half birthdays rather than her real one in July.
With DS going to college, he’ll be on break for a long period in January, so need to see how we can swing it with DD high school calendar. (She’s a stickler for getting her work done and done well, so not sure she’d go for taking any days off while school is in.)
Anyway, when I get some time I’m going to try to think of a wrap-up post of all the stuff from the trip.
For some reason my car still is telling me there’s an airbag issue.
Thanks for sharing your trip and beautiful photos with us. Looking forward to your wrap-up comments!
Duuuude, you should see someone about that

Ctrl-alt-delete should take care of that
Very little time to gather thoughts today, but did finally speak to service manager from my Honda dealer to make sure that if I get the airbag replaced there that the Traveler’s insurance quote isn’t cheaping out and the repair will cost me more than my deductible.
HOWEVER I learned from the Parts guy that the airbags are on a NATIONWIDE backorder.
Also, you can only one per VIN number - so now I need to hope that the repair shop guy in Orlando, who never called me back, didn’t place an order and didn’t tell me.
My dealer is placing the order now, said some parts orders are so crazy right now he has no idea when it might come in - could be tomorrow, next week, next month.
Asked if I was driving it - told him I was in Miami when it happened and, my dude, I have to go to work, so heck yes I am driving it.
And when someone cuts me off I have to roll down the window and yell HONK HONK now and hope a Florida Death Almond doesn’t fly in and end me.
and I have set an hourly reminder in my calendar to tell me to curse the Miami Melon Farmers that stole the thing.
Other fun thing: DS18, who has complained that the Samsung phones we use in our family plan are bogus and that iPhones rule the earth and are better in every way because they are better and are not bogus and every other human on the planet uses them except THE TIERNEYS decided to buy his girlfriend’s old iPhone Pro.
Which had a screen replaced last year and now she got a new one because I don’t know why.
And, of course he decides to start using it the day before our trip, so I panicly get on the line with Verizon to see if we can swap the device protection to this new iPhone from his old Samsung even though he bought it from a 3rd party. Literally took 90 minutes for the Verizon rep to get straight what we wanted to do and get the iPhone covered. All on my last day in the office before an 11 day vacation.
So, he’s using the phone on the trip and telling us every 37 seconds all of the reasons he loves the iPhone and the camera is aMAZing and look at this photo (all of which look kinda yellow to me.) And I remark that the clear case she also gave him seems more break-y than protect-y.
And then in Animal Kingdom, he drops it.
Whew, still works.
then he drops it again.
still works.
until that night.
when it doesn’t work.
screen just flashes.
SO I have spent the last 2 days trying to get Asurion to get a claim to go through. First, they said the Samsung was being used - because we told them the wrong date of breakage. (He swapped his SIM card into his old phone after the iPhone went south and Verizon said the claim was bogus because he didn’t use the iPhone that day.)
We had to kill that claim and file another.
But, then they sent me an email saying they wanted me to erase the phone.
Which doesn’t work.
and iCloud can’t connect to and it wouldn’t let me get to the shipping screen until I did.
So, I closed my office door and screamed under my desk.
Then I once again called Asurion and went through the eleventy-six voice menus to get to a peppy human who told me, “Oh, you can’t erase it. Just delete it from the Find My Phone account.” Which is not what the web page said needed to be done.
So, that’s enough for me today - I am heading home and going to bed early. HONK HONK.
Wow, rough day back, I’m sorry!
iPhones break if you so much as look at them wrong. I will never own one. And honestly, I prefer Samsung.
Me too - I am an IT Director, and I want direct access to my files, not to have to jump through hoops to mount things or connect to iTunes or light a candle in front of a shrine to Steve Jobs to get a ringtone installed.
Samsungs have served me and my company very well.
I went from a Blackberry(aka Pinkberry
), to a Bionic. Stayed w/ the various Motorola Android models and then the entire family switched to the Google Pixel. We are definitely much happier playing outside the fruit based walled garden.
Almost choked on an ice cube reading that. Just thought you should know.
I really am sorry it happened, but man, you are an inspiration on learning to laugh at situations. I really do hope I can do this one day.
I stand by my previous statement. Also, whenever I’m done with this wonderfully cheerful Unicorn as my avatar…HeiHei is next. I love that damn bird.
