Confirmed: CHAPEK OUT!

What I hear you saying is Chapek did such a poor job and let things go so badly that Iger doesn’t even have to do very much to impress us.

“The Tron construction lasted longer than chapek’s ceo status”

don’t ask or think about it. It’ll just bring you and everyone down.

100% they do. That’s how much the board believes the change was necessary for the future of the company. It was the first thing I thought of when DH woke me up to tell me that there was a blurb on the bottom of the tv while he was watching the news.

So true. But I do wonder…so, one thing Iger could do pretty quickly in order to satisfy the masses (in terms of Parks…even though Parks aren’t really the “problem” from a financial perspective…only a public perception problem) is re-activate some of the cancelled projects he had originally planned. The time to implementation would, in theory, be much quicker as compared to some major move. Aside from general maintenance, I kind of hope we might see things like the Mary Poppins attraction return to the UK pavilion, etc.

My biggest fear is that nothing will end up changing with Iger back in charge, at least as far as the parks go.

Well I didn’t have this on my 2022 bingo card. Unbelievable.

For all those hoping for Josh’s demise, it might happen but I do know that the cast members mostly love him, and from what I’ve heard, Chapek was much more hands on in the day-to-day of the parks than previous Disney CEOs, and was pretty dictatorial as to what would happen there.

If Josh stays, I think we will see whether he’s really equiped for this job, or whether he is an empty suit over the next year.

I think the bigger changes will come from the content and executive side. Kareem Daniels is probably gone, and I would suspect Christine McCarthy as well
Maybe some of the people Chapek axed will be brought back.

In any case, this is a good course correction.

My husband’s response: “I want to be CEO of a company. Any company. That way I can do a terrible job and catch the golden parachute on the way down”

We’re not talking about that though!!

Whether this is good news or bad news, it is BIG news, and I am here for it

The parks are the cash cow. They are a very big part of the strategy for the solution.

Replacing Chapek with Iger has nothing to do with fans, and is entirely about placating the coke fiends who run the irrational casino that we call the equities market.

Also too, the 1984-like erasure of all the Iger hate attendant to his tenure is droll, to put it mildly. People who now blame Chapek for everything used to say “thanks Shanghai” to the same litany of complaints.

oh i have no real expectation of D’Amaro being booted. He’s been with the company way too long and was already pretty high up when Iger was in. I see no real reason for Iger to remove him.

But I still am not a fan. I guess there was too much “I see you and I hear you” from him while he helped twist the knife.

The one positive you can say about Iger is that he doesn’t micromanage.

I about cracked a rib laughing when he said he greeted the news of his appointment with “humility.” Humility and Iger have never been in the same census tract. He was egregiously offended that he wasn’t made U.S. president by acclimation.

I agree. But that’s the point. The reason wall Street ain’t happy with Disney has nothing to do with the parks, but the rest of things, financially speaking. There isn’t much more that could be done to drive more revenue from the parks, so from a financial perspective, the parks aren’t the problem. BUT I am sure Iger understands that the public perception of the parks NOW will have lasting effects long term. This gives me some hope he will place more focus back on the parks while trying to address the bigger financial burdens.
