Both cars will presumably travel at the same rate of speed on the same route.
The difference will be that the car service will probably be waiting for you, whereas you’ll have to wait - usually a very short wait in my experience - for your rideshare to roll up.
But I would say both will provide expeditious service, but one will cost loads more than the other.
Yeah, I would go with the rideshare! It’s really easy and hassle free. The most I’ve waited at MCO is 5-10 minutes. The hardest part is finding the pickup area, but there are plenty of people to ask if you can’t see the signs.
We used Gear Fusion in Fall 2023 and our trip from the airport was a little off. No one was waiting for us in Baggage Claim. We had 5 people, 5 bags and a grocery stop and the vehicle was way too small for our group. The driver just kinda was it is what it is and that’s that. He also told us we chose the wrong Publix but had a screenshot of the address direct from a conversation when I made the reservation. The return trip was a little better; larger vehicle but had texts stating a change to our drivers twice. Makes me wonder if they swapped our vehicle choices somehow since we had 5 from the airport and 3 returning.
I might look at Away We Go on our upcoming trip; I’d really like to find a company to use regularly.
Sorry to hear about your bad experience. It’s especially disappointing since there have been so many glowing reviews of Gear Fusion, but I am learning that every vendor has their off days, so it’s hard to write off after one hiccup. That said, I had a great experience with Away We Go and I hope it works out for you.
Our GearFusion experience early this month was again excellent. Actually, due to predicted weather in our departing city, on Saturday we changed our plans to arrive late Sunday night instead of Monday afternoon and GearFusion was extremely accommodating with the change, said it was no problem at all.
Both times we used them the driver was not waiting for us as soon as we got to baggage claim, but was contacting us by text as soon as our plane landed (they were watching flight trackers) and found us soon after we had our luggage. I reserved the “Mid Sized Luxury SUV or Luxury Mini Van - 4 Passenger” both times for groups of 4 and we always had plenty of room. One of the 4 trips we had a minivan and the rest were larger SUV’s. Our drivers have always been extremely friendly. I will continue to use them!
This may be too late (I am not sure when your trip is/was) but Lyft has a function that might make you feel better.
You can opt in to Women+Connect. This feature is to allow women and nonbinary drivers to feel more comfortable driving because it allows them to chose women or nonbinary passengers. Male drivers are not given this option. Here’s more info.
My family used Away We Go in June. Everything about our experience was great. They were on time, the price was excellent and drivers were friendly and knowledgeable.
I used GearFusion from Sanford to Endless Summer Dockside at UOR last weekend. Both drivers contacted me by text, the first one the day before my flight to Sanford. I texted him when the plane landed. He was waiting by the escalators. My return flight was at 6 am so pick up at 3 am. The driver texted me at 2:30 am and was waiting outside the lobby when I came out at 2:50.
Both drivers were friendly and drove smoothly and safely. I could have done a Publix curbside order but as I was only in town for the weekend, I didn’t bother with that. Cost was $360 rt because of Sanford and because of the very early return.
The Unofficial Guide mentioned FL Tours so I booked them to take us from and to the airport. They were waiting for us at baggage claim when we arrived, and were waiting to pick us up at the Polynesian when they said they would be. I would use them again.
9 day Trip coming up in September. 5 adults wrangling 1 toddler that will need a car seat. We are thinking a 6 seater ride will be to tight with luggage. Any experience/recommendations from recent trips?
We used Away We Go last week in July. Four of us; picked us up in a super nice van that could hold more. I liked how everything is prepaid including tip.
Planning my first trip to DW in December and have appreciate the recommendations of Away We Go. Has anyone used their we’ll drop you off at the park and take your luggage to Bell Services feature?
We did not use park drop off because we went to the MK after dropping our bags. That would have been at the TTC so we decided it was not worth it for us.
Reviving an old topic here. I need to arrange some transport for my wife and kids to come meet me, so looking at Orlando to Port Canaveral then PC to Tampa. Has anyone used Samuels Express at all? https://samuelsxpress.com
