This August they also found us ride photos. It’s a tool right in the app. They ask for a block of time and ask for a detail from other photos to determine whom they are looking for. I can usually give an extremely tight window and photos are found in hours to days.
I think a big issue with the MB+ is that they come loose. So much so that many people use the band that secure them in place. Mine has come off several times in the parks. I almost lost it on Tron! DH has the “basic” MB that they still sell in the gift shops. It’s only a couple years old. His hasn’t ever come loose.
DS7 wants to re-use his R2D2 MB+ that was purchased in October 2024 (so about a year old) for our upcoming trip. If I charge that year old MB+ should it have all the functions of a new MB+ (like on-ride photos)?
You can also perform an update to the firmware, if the MB+ of it doesn’t have the latest, from within the MDE app. I would do this, since the most recent firmware update added fixes to improve battery life while using it. It went from the battery sometimes depleting in less than a day to being able to go 2 days on a single charge.
Honestly think this discount removal won’t affect much of anything. Fewer guests are paying for the MB+, and the discount to guests was minimal at best. I doubt this will make much of a difference. And while people have complained about each loss of benefit…Disney has not struggled to fill rooms (up until just very recently) nor the parks.
So…is a $10 discount on an optional item going to make or break anyone’s stay?
The bigger issue is optics. But loss of DME didn’t slow people from coming. So we have all trained Disney to charge us more and more without consequence!
Looks like the discount would make a difference in that case, to entice folks to buy. I know, $10 doesn’t affect much, but it’s annoying. Penny pinching.
For sure, it is annoying. And people will complain about it (I mean, obviously they already are…hence the DFBGuide article)…but I don’t think, ultimately, it will make any difference to Disney…nor guests. That’s my only point really.
The discount didn’t entice me. The loss of the discount doesn’t bother me. I figure people will buy them if they want them. For those people, the discount was nice. If it bothers me at all, it’s because it feels like Disney is taking away, little by little, part of the magic. They give back in room discounts but for some, that’s not enough. I think Disney is starting to see the effects of people choosing different vacations destinations.
I think the picture is very complex, so these small considerations get lost.
In some areas, Disney has revoked privileges or benefits that they have historically offered.
In other areas, they have added or restored benefits (like free parking at parks and resorts - which by the way, is a HUGE benefit and much more valuable to me than a discount on MBs).
At the same time, they are continually adding new rides and upgrading existing ones. It’s easy to lose sight of that in a lull. But the parks today are completely revamped compared to 10 to 12 years ago (before new Fantasyland). And look at all they have planned for the next 5+ years - each park has something major coming.
Prices have gone way up, but inflation has also gone up and luxury items tend to inflate faster than everything else when more families are moving into a comfortable middle class income so demand is higher and can support higher prices for vacation expenditures.
Oh, now you done it!
I just feel like they are stripping the value of a Disney vacation. If they bring some back, even if it cost them money, they will make it up. Discounts on resort stays doesn’t necessarily get people in the parks when the ticket prices are so high. I know people that are going to be using the Disney resort discounts but going to Universal Studios. So I’ll Disney gets a little of their money they won’t be going to Disney parks and spending money on food and merchandise. The more people that you have to pay for on vacation the bigger the issue becomes
