Best Deck on the Wish?

This is essentially how I remember it. I just have to remember that left and port have 4 letters.

I just remember that port is left and starboard is right. :man_shrugging: :rofl::rofl:

I have a hard time keeping left and right straight on their own to begin with. So I need tricks when I have to change the word in my brain!!!
ETA: Some days I have to hold up my hands as two L’s and see which one is the actual L to articulate left/right. It’s just how my brain’s always worked.

You probably can remember which direction is left and right, as well, without having to actually put up your hands and look for the L!

Ahem.

(And yes, I still do this…even if only in my head!)

I always have to think of right/left exactly like this, and if it’s a day I’m struggling to visualize in my head, then I put out my hands in front of me just so. My DS12 also has to do this. And we’re both left-handed. So I’ve wondered if it’s something to do with that at all.

I don’t even really do this. I just remember that port is port and starboard is starboard. It’s just programmed into my body. Not sure how I got there. It’s not like I’ve sailed that much.

Same. My first cruise my room was starboard and that’s all there was to it.

Today’s (now that it’s past midnight in all continental US timelines) the day for Silver bookings!!

Do you have a sailing picked out for bright and early when silver bookings open? One thing that threw me for a loop the first time we did a silver booking before it was open to the general public: you can only book one max stateroom per account so for us to get our 2 rooms, so I needed DH to have his account ready to book too (and we found out that morning his Castaway Club number had never been linked to the email address he uses for his Disney account). So unless you have a travel agent already lined up to get it booked for you, make sure you and DW both have your online accounts with your Castaway Club numbers linked to them to recognize you as Silver Members.

If you don’t have both CC numbers linked to each of your accounts, you may be able to link online if you know the CC number (it’s on your Key to the World card) and if that isn’t working (it didn’t the morning we first went in to book), we had to call in to get it linked & then book the sailing we were after. It was a fairly easy process, but it was extra steps I wasn’t counting on having to do at 6:30am MT with a deadline to get out the door to get the kids to school on time.

This is good information and I’m glad I read it before I just tried to book two staterooms with my account! I’m not sure I even want to have rooms booked under two different accounts … won’t that make it so I have to book extras separately and I won’t be able to use my deposit toward the cost?

the answer to “why would i use a travel agent?”   Ask me about the 4 am phone calls I was making while I was in Japan LOL

not as long as the cabins are linked

you mean your placeholders?

I hope you’re able to book the staterooms you’re looking for with no issues today.

I just spend 2 hours and 4 minutes on hold to convert my placeholder to an October 2025 Treasure sailing.

@lolabear_la It’s interesting you could only book one stateroom - I was asked whether there were any other placeholders I wanted to book today (maybe that would be on another sailing?)

You guys are hard selling the TA thing today :stuck_out_tongue:

Yes this. I just read that I have to call to apply my placeholder deposit. Ugh. I’m on hold now but I don’t want to wait 2 hours …

Also I am now logged in through both my account and DW’s account and my account has a room, but DW’s is saying there are “no staterooms available for this cruise” even though I can clearly see availability. I can see that she is Silver Castaway, so it’s not that.

Remind me of your dates?

And yes, the calling in for placeholders REALLY sucks.

Yes, that is definitely one of the times TA’s are better than DIY. Personally, I like being able to deal with Disney directly if I want to change anything.

I totally get this. It’s why I never used a TA before I became one. If I want to change my room at midnight 50 times before a trip on a whim, I don’t want to bug someone else for that

October 10th on the Wish. I just put a hold on the first stateroom. DW’s account is not letting me book any cruise with an early booking window, but it isn’t saying I’m not eligible, just that there are no staterooms available.

It’s a good time to catch up on any paperwork you need to do, or just do more cruise research. Or watch the rooms you’re interested in and obsess over whether someone else is going to book it before they answer the phone, not that I would do that

 Or change your hotel so then you need to change your port transfer…
