ADR Priorities with young boys

Hi team!

I’m booking dining next week and wanted to get opinions on the order in which I should be booking. This is a multi-generational trip with me, DH, DS1 and DS4 plus my parents and sister. We’ll be staying at a 2-bedroom at SSR.

My definite number 1 priority is Chef Mickey’s. Since I have no clue what DHS is going to look like I’m booking so that I can be flexible in which day I go there. I would like to do EMM for Toy Story if it is offered. I also am going on Halloween and am not sure if I just want to stay at our resort or go to Disney Springs. I’m trying to squeeze T-Rex in there and that would be my only real opportunity since my parents don’t really want to go.

I’m looking for recommendations for Saturday night at DS. I know everyone recommends Raglan Road, but I feel like I eat at a ton of Irish pubs around Boston. This would be a resort day if that matters.

Does the below list look like a good plan of attack for ADRs? Thanks for your help!

Boathouse? Homecomin?

Garden Grill breakfast. That was one of the best meals of our trip!!

Do you think that the Boathouse would work with little kids? I’ve heard good things about it!

Hmm, I do love Chip and Dale. But it is F&W so I’m hesitant to fill up on breakfast. But farmer Mickey might make my son’s day!

it could

but if you specifically want DS, maybe a qs for littles?

Do a prepark open breakfast at 8am. Food and wine won’t open up until 11am for the showcase. Start eating at noon. With all the walking you will be hungry!

It was the best breakfast we had the entire week we were there and we considered going back a second time but could not get a second reservation. It was a great experience and both of my boys absolutely loved it. If you do prepark open you can get right on soarin before the park even opens. We went on Soarin twice before the crowds arrived.

Man, honestly you sell this really well! Now I feel like I have to do it. I actually have zero breakfasts booked and who doesn’t like a good Mickey waffle! Do you think it should be a top booking priority at 180?

So we do have Soarin scheduled on our second Epcot day when the rest of my family will be with us because we would have to do RS with DS1. Would a PPO breakfast get us a jump on Test Track at all do you think?

It’s possible? It is quite a walk over to test track. Soaring is right downstairs from garden Grill. My recommendation would be get the fast pass for Test Track. Prepark open breakfast at Garden Grill and then do soarin right after breakfast. You also have The fast pass, so if test track breaks down (which it does often) your fast pass becomes an anytime that day fast pass for either test track or another attraction.

Melcort10 -I am sure you know what you are doing but – I noticed your first day in the park is 10/25. Because 10/25 is my first day in the parks too, I am well aware of the 180 timeline. We check in on the 24th so my180 window opens this Saturday, April 27th. If tomorrow/Friday is your ADR day, are you checking in on the 23rd? I just want to be sure you have your dates correct.

Hi - yes, thank you for checking! We are checking in on 10/23 and we are doing Seaworld on the 24th!

So funny, I’ve got a similar looking spreadsheet going. I’ll be sharing my ADR story sometime in the next week. Good luck to you!

Phew! But I assumed you wouldn’t be a Liner if you didn’t have that right! We will be there with 2 boys too - my 4 year old and 2 year old grandsons- so I have a lot of the same restaurants in my plan. But don’t worry, different days! (BTW - I am in the Boston area too!)

Are you utilizing RS on Test Track also? If so, you could split your groups FPs between Soarin and TT. We did this back in October. You could then potentially have two rides on Soarin ~ one at RD and another later with a FP.

In February, we RD Soarin (and utilized rider swap) after a PPO at GG. Worked great but two rides can take a while. We sent our first group up the standby line at 8:54 and they didnt make it off until 9:15. We hopped over to The Seas w Nemo and back to LwtL (both were walk ons) before using our RS for Soarin.

I think this looks great!

My kids (8, 6, 4 and 2) ALL put Chef Mickey’s and SciFi in their top 3 restaurants last trip.

What was their #3?

Had to go check. I guess technically I’m lying a bit. My two year old doesnt really have the capacity for such a ranking yet. My 8 year old did not add Chef Mickey’s (my bad!) but La Hacienda in the Mexico pavilion. They all three had HDDR ranked in the top 3 too!

Oh and i only have one boy (my 6 year old). Feel like that was relevant given the original title of your post!
