2024 Hurricane Season

Yes. It’s still flooded. :frowning:

They have been showing this and it’s devastating. I think at least being on the coast we have an expectation of this. But very few warnings were issued for some of these areas impacted. I did see that all of Chimney Rock was counted for as evacuated. But so many weren’t as lucky. I lived through several hurricanes but this feels so much different. I couldn’t imagine going through what some are going through right now.

They did this after Katrina. No numbers or zeros in the X is what you want to see. :pensive:

Oh no! Hopefully you can get a restoration or remediation company out soon. Since so many claims are in with insurance I wouldnt count on them sending a company. The best thing I did for Ida was get our claim in just before the storm. I may always do this. You can rescind the claim- no harm, no foul, if you don’t get enough damage. Since they go down the list this puts you at the top. I hope they treat you fairly.

Eventually we will. But I’m sure they have tons of people needing them.

True. But if you have standing water it can lead to mold and mildew elsewhere in the house. You don’t want that to happen.

Oh, we have been in touch and we’re on the list. We’re just way down the list.

My friend’s house in Gray Court is completely unfixable.

That’s heartbreaking.

Ugh! That’s horrible. It’s like starting over. If they rebuild, hopefully they get a good contractor and their insurance doesn’t give them the run around!

Sorry! Thank you @SirGreggLadyV

I think you meant to post this in your trip report rather than the hurricane thread. :joy_cat:

I guess if you can’t post your vacation photos on insta you might as well post them in the hurricane thread!

Hopefully we have a breather from nasty storm. Isaac and Joyce have dropped off. Kirk’s predicted path keeps it well away. There’s one way to the east, but it has a 90% chance of developing into a tropical depression with 48 hours.

A friend of mine in a hard-hit area (Hendersonville, NC) posted this:

You might want to be also monitoring this graphic:

I do. I didn’t want to put in too many images at this point. The disturbance in the gulf has a lower development chance - 0% in 2 days, 40% in 7 days. The text didn’t seem to have anything to get very concerned about for the short term. That area has been there for a few days, with not much to show for it - yet. But that’s just based on nhc. I see that one way to the east was quick to develop into TD13.

Thanks for The Eyewall link. That looks like a very informative site.
