Pictures in ak come out well, die to the greenery in the back drops and other great vista. Fav spot is in front if tree of life on Asia/Africa trail.
We love to extend ak day (especially when it closes at 5:00) by heading to AKL for dinner-it really extends the immersive experience.
Lots of shopping in ak, with items you can only find there, especially in Africa.
If touring in the summer, plan ahead to know where AC spots are to cool off. They are not plentiful in ak, so it takes some heads-up to know how to get your family out of the heat. Or heavy rain.
Create your personalized touring plan and follow it! It works like magic. We wanted to rush to do the Safari Tour, but the app had us head through Dinosaur land and straight to Expedition Everest. Great move, because we got to do it many times before we even seen a true wait time. They said 5 minute wait, but we went straight on each time, no waiting. Plus when everyone went to try EE, we left the opposite direction to do Kilimanjaro Safari and there was a 5 minute wait. Worth it.
One of the most unexpected and amazing things we experienced at AK was crossing the bridge from Africa to Discovery Island at dusk and seeing all the birds come to nest in the trees along the water. It was a fantastic thing to witness and is one of the many things that makes AK so special in our eyes.
We always stop at the Boneyard at the end of the day. Its a great way for the kids to relax, and calm down before we stop at the gift shop on the way out of the park.
If you have kids be sure to leave extra time for Wilderness Explorer activities, maybe 5 minutes per badge. We have 4 daughters ages 4-11 and each one had fun participating. They wanted to go back to AK just to earn more WE badges. The WE CMs were engaging and there was a great variety of activities.
