Woody’s Roundup - Solo

Has anyone dined at Woody’s solo yet?
If so, what were your thoughts for it being a solo experience. I don’t have a problem dining alone, but wondered if being solo might make it awkward having to participate in the shenanigans. I’ve read where parties of two thought it was too much food, but in my solo experience at WDW family style restaurants (‘Ohana, LTT, GG) they tend to scale back on the portion for a party of one. ( Except when it’s time for dessert. They pile it on and insist you don’t opt out.)

The on shenanigans I remember were when they say “Andy’s coming” or something like that and everyone freezes.

It is a TON of food. DD21 and I went in December and we were served the same portion sizes as the family of four at the table next too us. It just felt so wasteful. The desserts were the only things that was individually portioned.

There aren’t a lot of shenanigans really. You can ride a broomstick horse to your table and whenever they say “Andy’s coming” everyone freezes. It is a lot of food, I’ve done it with 4 and with 2 and it seemed like the meat platter was the same size.

It’s not the greatest food but worth checking out once because the theming is really fun

I have heard that they won’t put less food on the table regardless of the ere being fewer guests. Which is SO wasteful

Here’s an example of what was done for me as a single diner at Liberty Tree. I didn’t like the mixing of the foods, but appreciated them giving me less the first round so I could ask for more of what I did want. Since Woody’s doesn’t do that - maybe I will plan a walk and a nap after the meal.
Since the shenanigans are minimal, I need to get in there and take a peek.

**We asked once at HDDR to not bring the dessert because we were stuffed. The server said they HAD to bring it. :grimacing::pleading_face:

That is absolutely nuts.

This is my main hesitation with the family style restaurants. So much food, and so wasteful when I don’t make a dent in it.

I agree that its nuts. I expect that the reason at HDDR is actually the show. Its been a few years (going back in November) but I seem to remember the servers all coming out together with the desserts actually being part of the final song in the show. Am I remembering correctly?

I felt VERY wasteful the last time we dined at Woody’s. I think they told us they have pre portioned amounts for a size range and don’t adjust it. We had 6 people but I think the food portion is earmarked for 6-8 or something like that. We had so much left over. We would’ve taken it back with us as we headed home for a break after but they do not provide to go containers. If we go again I will bring zip locks or something just to reduce the waste. I really did feel so ick about it.

Which is insane, right because if you’re going to insist on serving me way more food than my group will eat, we should be able to take the leftovers with us from the first round of food

I can see how it could get out of hand with people asking for seconds and thirds of stuff just to be able to take it, but if it’s from what they insist on putting on the table then they should let you take what’s left

BBQ is crazy expensive even in the real world.
A half slab and two small sides will run you $25 around these parts. Makes me wonder if Woody’s has to serve that amount of food to justify the $45 per (adult) head price.
But it is incredibly wasteful and expensive to not allow you to take it with. I will be taking Ziploc bags, as mentioned. :grimacing:

Nobody has to serve food that will be wasted, especially if the patron asks them not to

Mitigate complaints about too little food for $45 pp. The buffets are around the same price point where plenty of food is wasted.
