Yup. I’m not sure she knew it was him. I didn’t have the impression that she was sensible enough to figure out stuff. Their employer is a civil engineering firm - fairly large for central MO. He’s not college educated - tech school drafter, so probably easily let go.
some higher power was definitely intervening here. This is how irresponsible gun owners get their children killed!!

A guy bragging to you about a prank probably won’t include any disciplinary facts in his story… That would be funny in a movie. Real life, not so much. 
DH has lost many a pocket knife at screenings. Whatever. He just replaces them with more. With a million other things to keep track of (travel details, 6 kids, Tickets, etc.) emptying his pockets often goes unchecked.
