I took my family of 5, kids ranging from 6-16, to see the early access premier of Wish. I don’t want to display spoilers here in the intro but will add some thoughts in a comment. Overall, it was a big hit for the family! Here are our ratings, out of 5 stars:
My favorite part of the movie is the animation style. It was so well done. It was the perfect homage to the old hand drawn background animation that you would find in the classic Disney animated movies, think Sleeping Beauty and Snow White
The music was beautiful! Our family will definitely be listening to the soundtrack on repeat!
The character development was well done. Our favorite character was Asha because of her relationship with her friends, sidekick, Valentino, and Star. We also loved the Queen and the grandpa, Sabino.
My last thought for now… the Mickey Mouse tribute before the movie was pixie dust inducing!
Just came back from an early screening with my kids 10/8/6. They loved it! They wanted to stay for the entire credits and were shouting out the names excitedly until the end.
I enjoyed the easter eggs, and it was kind of a game for me to notice all the winks - some obvious and some not.
It’s not going to become a classic (i.e. Encanto) but not every one has to be. The songs were cute, and i kept getting pixie dust in my eyes.
Do you consider Encanto a classic? For me it was good…but one and done.
I haven’t really been terribly interested in most of Disney’s animated offerings lately. The previews for Wish actually made me not the least bit interested. I would need to be given reason to bother watching it.
I did love Encanto! It falls into classic in my mind for a few reasons:
Might be age of my kids. That soundtrack still plays in my house. My daughter still sometimes says Hola Casita when we pull in the driveway. For this generation of Disney kids, Encanto and Frozen are the go tos.
I still spot Mirabels and Isabellas at Halloween. That’s always an indicator to me.
Ive never felt more seen by a Disney song than i did by Surface Pressure. I had a lot of friends - elder side of millennial, moms, maybe a little too type A - who felt the same. When we’re overwhelmed, my sister and i still text each other gifs from that song. It has a special place in my heart for that reason.
That being said, i know plenty of people who were one and done with it so i think opinions can vary there.
