Will Epic Universe cut into your WDW days?

I’m curious about the impact of Epic Universe on this community of Disney die-hards. So it’s poll time!

How will Epic Universe affect the amount of time you spend at Walt Disney World in 2025–2026?
  • I’ll spend more time at UOR, at the expense of WDW.
  • I’ll spend more time at UOR, with no impact on my WDW time.
  • I’m not planning a UOR visit during this timeframe.

So I’m going in the first place for UOR but I’m spending 3 park days plus arrival day in Citywalk compared to 4 parks days in WDW and a DisneySprings rest day in the middle but that was an add on cuz when in Florida…Disney math. It all started with could I do all four disney parks in 1 day and then I was like screw it, it’s not much more expensive to spread it out…cuz again Disney Math. LOL

Yeah I thought about including options for “more Disney / less Universal” but I thought that was probably a rare response, so I just left that as “Other”—of course yours was the first response! :joy:

I did 10 days / 9 nights at WDW last December. For December 2025, I’m planning 8 nights: 4 days at UOR (2 Epic, 2 others) and 4 Disney days (counting departure day).

I voted no plans for UOR at this time. Our kiddo is still a little too young to get the most out of UOR rides compared to WDW, so we’re letting the new car smell fade on Epic before we plan to visit. But if she was older I think my answer would have been to give up some WDW time to fit in UOR especially if she gets into any of the Universal IPs (aka Harry Potter).

I don’t want to let Epic cut into my WDW days because I like my 6 park days and 2 rest days but I don’t see how it can’t! My DS’s have been somewhat left behind by WDW in terms of IP timing and Epic/Universal has absolutely nailed it for them between Nintendo and HTTYD. So I don’t have specific plans yet but I imagine I will cut back at least one Disney park day for an Epic day. And I’m sure if you give a Moose a Muffin…

For sure, I gave a moose a muffin and he’s already demanded one additional muffin.

I started out booking an Epic trip with no WDW days. But then I added in 3 WDW days too. And am now planning to add on MNSSHP. So, ended up about exactly where we have been the last couple summers with a rushed Universal and rushed WDW combo, no chill. :joy:

I’ve got no WDW plans indefinitely, but not impossible. I am focused on UOR in 2025 - 2026. I’m sure that’s no surprise to anyone!

So as ridiculous as it’s sounds I am currently planning a trip for our Epic pass holder tickets, but probably staying at WDW - w/DVC points that I either need to use or bank by the end of the month…admittedly this isn’t the first time I have used my DVC for a UO trip in fact our “welcome home” trip was exclusively built around HP. Lol they may revoke my blue card for putting it out there.

The existence of UOR and now Epic makes it so I spend more time in Orlando than I otherwise would. So in practice there’s a little bit of time for Epic coming out of my existing UOR time and a little coming out of my WDW time, and a little being added overall to my vacation duration.

When are you thinking will be your first visit to Epic?

Either one day this upcoming October (depending on how this launch goes - want to get a sense for crowds / wait times) or next summer. We will do a longer trip next summer so if we just do one day this fall we will still have time to slow down and soak it in in 2026.

I recently had a trip and ended up purchasing epic tickets on a whim when they opened to the public. It was a delightful day full of surprises… since I had not done much research.

This is us for October too. I allocate far less time to Universal and we’re not dead set on seeing Epic universe this time around. Although I guess now that I read that 2025-2026, I may actually be in the majority - but it would be a toss up whether I cannibalized UOR time from another UOR park or WDW.

Majority of you arent planning on going at all? Why not?

Universal rides are too intense for us. I would love it if they offered a cheaper no ride ticket as I’d love to just walk around for a few hours as it does look amazing.

This is an interesting discussion. I just found out that our local plans for the 4th of July have been canceled. Thinking about a quick trip somewhere. I was wondering how atrocious the crowds will be at Epic…
