Why is Epcot a 1 when there’s Morning Extra Magic Hours?

We are thinking of going to Epcot on a Thursday when it’s a 1 on crowd calendar but they have morning extra magic hours. We are thinking of park hopping TO Epcot in the early evening. How do you think crowds would be for rides and how would the world showcase would feel in terms of crowds. I just don’t see how the park is a 1 when there’s MEMH. Thanks :grinning:

Parks with EMH are usually the parks to avoid in the afternoon because they are going to be more crowded. Also, in the evening world showcase tends to be busier because Florida residents come to World showcase. Crowd level at a one is based on the lines. It may still feel crowded in the world showcase even if the lines are short.

When we were there in April we had a crowd level 2 day but the world showcase felt very crowded.

Here is what Len wrote on the subject:

How Crowded are the parks during EMH?

Crowds typically range from slightly below average to average at Disney’s Animal Kingdom and the Magic Kingdom on days when those parks host Extra Magic Hours. Crowds are larger than average at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and slightly higher than average at Epcot, on days when they have EMHs.

So he says on average, Epcot is only slightly more crowded than usual on EMH days.
Slightly more crowded CL1 could still be less than CL2.

He also seems to be saying that EMH does not have a positive correlation with crowds at MK or AK.

FYI – A common misconception about Crowd Levels is that they are an indicator of the number of people in each park. However, they are an indicator of average queue waits at the park.

A CL 1 can feels like a CL 4 in terms of park capacity, but the queues may be moving quickly. Conversely, you can be in a CL 9 park that feels like a CL 5 because the streets aren’t packed. However, all the queues are super long.
