My CLs were unaffected and I am there 9/1-9/5. In fact, our AK day went DOWN.
49 days here.
being a teacher and with my daughters sports we go as late in august as possible. Kinda a farewell to summer. Crowded and rains in afternoon but we like it and make it work.
Canât wait
57 days left! I know it is going to be HOT and rain most days - but I have been in Aug twice before - although quite a few years ago, so I knew what I was getting myself into. I was very surprised at the AK FP+ reservations being out at 60 days also - not just FoP, but RoL and others. I have the feeling that because the attendance is lower, they actually have less reservations, because they have less staff to run the park. Also the âextraâ EMH for Pandora are over by the last week, so I feel like that is playing into things at AK.
The weekend I start my vacation all had increased CL this week, but only AK really made a significant differance in my touring plans. One of the reasons that I was happy with this week was because of the low crowd levels being the trade off for the weather LOL - but it is still lower than most other times of year that I would be able to bring the kids -they go to school later than most other places I know of here.
I do tend to schedule myself a bit tight, but I have a rest most days and much less to do in the evenings so if I start to go to far off track I can add some things in after our break.
We are going august 23 to sept 2. Have done similar time on a previous trip and did not find it too bad. I will take the hot temps given that our summer weather often does not include good temps. Plan is to hit the parks rope drop until lunch time and then hang out at resort for the rest of the day. We have done Disney a few times in the past so we know what rides we wanna do again. Doing a split stay at AKL and yatch club so looking forward to enjoying the resorts given the cost of them
We were there the end of August last year. It was hot of course but we took mid-day breaks and had an amazing time! Touring Plans worked perfectly for us. Virtually all lines were well under 15 minutes. Our longest wait in our 7 day vacation (and we rode everything, including favorites like SDMT, Splash, and Everest 3-4 times each) was 30 minutes for Buzz Lightyear because it broke down. We were able to get fast passes throughout the day at MK in particular and so just walked on many rides. I donât recall exactly what the crowd levels turned out to be, but I believe many were in the 7-9 range but we didnât really notice because our plans worked so well. With a strategy to deal with the heat, I wouldnât hesitate to go in late August again.
Last year was great at the end of Aug just rained a whole lot!
42 days and counting we are going 11th August to 26th and did simalar dates 2 years ago we did notice that the last week of August the crowds really became a lot smaller and to be honest think we had 3 days that the weather slowed us down due to heavy shows late afternoon but apart from that weather was very hot and humid
58 days for Me! We went this time last year and it was perfect, low crowds all around. Definitely hot, rained every day, but overall one of my favorite trips. Hereâs hoping a similar trip this time!
We will be arriving on 8/18 too. Doing Universal first. Weâve done August 3 times and the crowds are not bad. Canât wait to see Pandora!
58 days left for us until our FIRST TRIP EVER!
So I have no experience but am planning to go late Aug/early Sept since our kids are off for a religious holiday but most other kids will be in school or about to start.
The Crowd Calendar was recently updated and some days went from a 1 to a 3 and a 2 to a 4 but it is still looking pretty good. (on paper, er screen)
This is our 5th August trip in a row, so it canât be too bad! Weâll be there 14th Aug to 3rd Sept this year.
The last week of August is my favorite time, because the crowds are very low. All of the south and half of the north are back in school that week, and people are less likely to pull kids out for the first week of school. I can see how the week immediately before that could be among the worst though, with lots of people getting their vacation in before school starts.
The weather can be a problem that week, but if you wear light, quick-drying clothes then even heavy rains arenât a big deal because itâs hot and most non-coaster rides stay open. It rained pretty steadily for 2 whole days and 2 half days of our 5 park days last year (we had a hurricane make landfall on the Gulf shore) but we just got wet and went about our business.
