Which Disney Resort Thanksgiving Dinner?

Couldn’t get WCC for solo Thanksgiving dinner, so trying to decide on one of the 3 below.

  • Ale & Compass
  • Cape May Cafe
  • Olivia’s

If you are offsite, WCC’s booking for Thanksgiving opens tomorrow. Or are they already fully booked?

I picked Olivia’s just because we loved our meals there, and the food is very southern comfort. I can’t speak to the other places.

In another thread (I think by the same OP) the first available time for WCC is 8:50pm.

We will be in vicinity of the bubble on Thanksgiving and are considering eating a meal at one of the resorts at WDW before our flight home at 5pm. We will be at UOR for a couple days before that and their onsite Thanksgiving meals look fine, but also more expensive for their table services/buffet so we’d stick to a quick service at Cabana Bay but that’s only if we end up staying there, which we haven’t finalized our decision yet. Hence looking at something at WDW that would be cheaper than the $80/adult, $40/child at the UOR non-quick service Thanksgiving meals.

Voted for Olivia’s because of the 3 it looks like the most Thanksgiving of the options. Ale & Compass is only doing a few add’l choices in addition to the regular dinner menu & I can’t see that Cape May is doing a Thanksgiving meal, but it is seafood which I love, so if you don’t care about the Thanksgiving-ness of the meal, that sounds like the next best choice.

I voted Ale & Compass, just in case you didn’t include the holiday decorations at the Boardwalk area resorts.

What does everyone think about Christmas day or eve? Does anyone feel bad about being out on a holiday… I mean feel bad about the CMs that are working? Anyway, our APs have blackout dates for Christmas, but can’t decide if I want to do an ADR or cook in the room. We will be in a BW-1bv over Xmas, so lots of choices w/in walking distance.

I have not been on a major holiday myself, but the CMs will be working regardless…so no need to feel bad. Also, they get paid significantly more on those days (as much as double time), so CMs may actually WANT to work those days, and shift when they celebrate the holiday in order to earn more.

Truthfully, I miss the days when most businesses were closed on holidays and even Sundays. But those days are gone.

If you book an ADR, you can help them even more by tipping them really well.

It should be one of those things that would come up in their onboarding program. WDW is open 365 days a year, so they need people working 365 days a year. So if it’s something that they can’t do (within reason), then maybe this isn’t the best place for them to work?

No

Not everyone is Christian. Holidays are often paid extra. I’ve eaten at restaurants on Christmas quite a bit. One server said he was unable to get home so he volunteered to work. He said everyone was jolly. Better than being in his room alone.

I have usually brought a fun holiday item for our server to add to their accessories that they were wearing that day.

I’d walk up to Boatwrights at your sister resort and eat there. You may not get turkey with dressing tho I’ve always liked what I ordered.

Can you not book for 2 and just one show up? There’s usually not a charge for the “ghost” since it’s a known glitch for a lot of their restaurants that nothing will show for 1.

I currently have a reservation at Ale & Compass, but am now wondering if it would be better to get Thanksgiving dinner at my resort’s food court (the meal looks good), then maybe do Beaches & Cream for dessert. I’ve never done Disney on Thanksgiving day & will be there solo.

I wouldn’t. Usually working my own job on holidays. I knew what I signed up for when I started working that I’d end up missing spending holidays at home.
