When will my trip begin?

Hellooo! It has been 84 years since we’ve been to Disney, so I’m here trying to figure out what feels like totally new everything since we did this last time. My 6 and 3 year olds from the last time you saw us are now 10 and 7!

Anyway, I’m deep diving the forum and the website this week before I need to make dining reservations next week, but if there are any great tips or something new you think we absolutely should not miss that might be hiding please drop a hint!

Guardians of the Galaxy!!
Also after dark: Moana walkthrough, Spaceship Earth show
(Also Tiana’s, Tron, Zootopia, oh right new nighttime parade, etc but mostly Epcot )

Also, your kids now will be tall enough to ride most everything they want.

Is guardians of the galaxy going to make me sick though? My 7 year olds and I are all very prone to motion sickness. Half a Dramamine works ok for me, but not as much for them :sob:

I was very worried about that as well!

I get more sick on Peoplemover (I know ) and rides with screens.

The motion on GotG is very similar to an electric car (eg our Ioniq 6), especially when accelerating into a turn - very smooth, fast, somewhat nauseating for me when looking down.

A few tips for Guardians:

Look where you’re going / along the track. Do not look to the side at the screens or stare at the moon when you circle it.

I read a recommendation for middle row (eg 5 or 6) and left side - that’s the only way I’ve ridden it, so I can’t say for sure how much it helped.

Singing along is always a good plan.

Others may have comments as well.

Guardians is intense. We had a blast but we don’t get motion sickness (including on Star Tours etc.). But it did surprise me how intense vs. Slinky and BTMRR (the only other big coasters we have been on). Do you like coasters otherwise?

You will love Epcot without all the walls! So much easier to get across.

What rides make you sick? I get sick on simulators but GotG doesn’t bother me at all. I take half a Dramamine just to be safe, but honestly I don’t think I need it. It isn’t as spinny as a spinner and there isn’t that much simulated motion even though there are screens.

It varies. I have gotten motion sickness watching parades before if I’m standing too close .

Generally I am fine on roller coasters and as long as I can look somewhere besides a screen. Last time we went I was fine on the runaway railway but not on Ratatouille and the movement on those seems very similar to me. I probably just need to watch some ride videos.

I love roller coasters, and so does my most prone to motion sickness child…what a curse!

This is probably the most relevant experience. It’s a coaster more than anything. A smooth but intense one. I say it’s worth a try, but just take all necessary precautions (Dramamine, don’t ride on an empty stomach but not right after a big meal, etc.)

My husband gets motion sick. Remy, Soarin and Star Tours are all once-a-trip rides for him and he won’t go on FoP again. He has no issues on GotG.
