If you won $4,000 in Disney Gift Cards how would you spend it? Would you splurge and add on all the extras to an existing trip? Go on a cruise? Use it to buy tickets for coast-to-coast (WDW & DL) trips? Spend a little extra and splurge on annual passes? We’re a family of three (two adults, one child) who have recently found ourselves in this very lucky position and are looking to make the most of it! What would you do?
I would use it to do something I’ve never done but have always wanted to do
I’m about quantity. I’d do an additional trip at another time if that’s an option.
Thanks! That’s a good idea. I’ve had my eye on Wild Africa Trek for a while now…
That’s a good start but it’s not $4k
Maybe pair that with a couple of nights at AKL savanna view room?
I can definitely relate. We’re always up for another trip!
Have you ever been to Disneyland?
Realistically, I would probably apply the gift cards toward something I already had planned so I could save the money. ![]()

But that’s no fun, so for purposes of this question I’d say …
Tokyo DisneySea. That’s a place I definitely want to experience someday.
I would book a cruise! Depending on the ship/cabin and time of year, you should be able to find a nice 4-5 night Carribean itinerary for that amount, and I like the fact that a cruise is virtually all inclusive (so you wouldn’t need to spend any more than that unless you really wanted to add on specific port excursions).
This might be heavily influenced by the fact that we did our first DCL cruise this summer and both my mom and my kids are already asking when we can go on another one ![]()
I’d spend it on LL Premier Passes for HS, EP and MK. Last year we purchased LLPP for DHS. Being able to enjoy a more relaxing day at the park without looking at our phones, but still having access to the LL lines was amazing. You would still have some funds left over so I could see using that for Wild Africa Trek. DW and I did WAT a number of years ago and enjoyed it very much.
Do you think $4000 would cover a trip for three people? My DLR trip for 5-n for two people is already over $3000 with just air, Grand Legacy, and tickets for January.
It could cover the Disney portion for sure but unfortunately you can’t use Disney gift cards at Tokyo Disney. I was very sad when I found that out! It has to do with them not being fully owned and operated by the disney company.
Annual pass and a stay at Beach Club or the Poly.
You gave me an idea - with cash I would stay at Yacht Club and Riviera. Maybe tack on a couple of nights in a Poly Tower Theme Park View studio. All the places that either don’t have DVC or I can’t use my points due to resale rules / availability.
I’d probably say well that’s found money, so let me spend 5 or 6K of my own money to really maximize it by buying 50 points at SSR or OKW and then use that 4K of gift cards to pay my dues and my park tickets and food for my first couple of years/trips. Then with DVC you have some real flexibility on how to maximize the use. But I’m crazy DVC guy, don’t listen to me.
I would upgrade my stay, maybe a split stay and lengthen the trip. I would definitely do so extras, like WAT. I wouldn’t squeeze in an AP.
Where do you usually stay? If you’re used to the Value resorts, how about upgrading to a Moderate?
I’d do a cruise (that sounds cheap for a Disney cruise but I’m out of the loop on that). I was going to take my daughter on a Disney cruise when she was 9 but 2020 happened - she’s now 15 and I kinda feel I missed that window. I haven’t yet been convinced Disney cruise prices are worth it if not with young kids.
Or plan a whole second other trip to Disneyland - I don’t know how much Premier Pass is but it does cover both parks. Would be pretty awesome to hit that up during the 70th anniversary celebration.
No suggestions better than the ones you’ve gotten, but I wanted to say this is so cool! Congratulations!
Isn’t it! I don’t think there is any wrong answer, lol.
