What to book on DCL?

When you are all together you scan your card or tell them your cabin number and then do all your different arrangements/combinations of people/poses…then, I’ve read somewhere that they have some kind of facial recognition software that would exclude pictures that do not include someone from your room, but I do not know if this is true. Similarly, if your parents were wandering around alone together, decided to give your room number and have their photo taken, would it be included? The inter webs say no but I don’t have personal experience with this yet. Will be able to give a more definitive answer after our sailing next month as we will be split over two rooms and I’ve only bought the photo package for my cabin (me, DD, my mother and my aunt in cabin 1 and DH,DS and my mother-in-law in cabin 2)

Thanks! Love on the ground research!

FYI I had my booking just now and I was able to get a Couples’ Massage pretty easily. There weren’t a lot of times available for the sea day but there were a few. There was also plenty of availability on the Ensenada day, which is when I booked (we don’t plan to leave the ship).

There seemed to be a fair amount of other stuff to book, though no Remy that I could see. Nothing else that we wanted anyway.

I will come back to book a Royal character meet and greet on September 19th.

Yay! I’m glad. Can’t wait to hear about your trip as I’ll be depressed from just having gotten off the ship.

I do think that is a good strategy to plan to do a lot on the port day! There are still a few things available on our port day like beverage tasting but no brunch or sports stuff. However for us the port is the sole reason we did this itinerary so we want to squeeze every minute out of Bermuda! Next time if we do a Nassau/Castaway sailing I can do it. And now I want a couples massage…

I feel like if I don’t get a brunch there will have to be a next time and their dumb strategy is making a little more sense…

I do hope you get a brunch this time though

I should report for research’s sake that I saw a few Palo Brunch and dinner appointments still available about 5 minutes after “midnight.” But then about an hour later I started to see a few people on the Facebook group for our cruise asking if anyone was going to drop their Palo brunch, so I assume that means they are out now.

It’s kind of funny watching those groups how some people are completely clueless – like didn’t even know that we had a booking day or what time it would open or what was available to book, etc.

Oh it would be good to mention that Remy is only on the Fantasy and Dream. The older ships (Wonder & Magic) has just Palo for adult dining. And the new Wish instead of doing Remy did an adult dining Enchante.

Oh LOL that explains it. I haven’t been paying much attention since I knew I wouldn’t want to do upcharge dining.

This is a a very good strategy. More and more I am thinking we won’t get off the ship on our Nassau day for all sorts of reasons, but ultimately I just want do all the ship things.

This will also be your online check-in day to get that port arrival time! May the odds be ever in your favor!

I didn’t really absorb that info until I started comparing what was different about our first ship and our second ship. And our interest has been only so-so on it partly for the dress code, partly for the effort it is to get a reservation with dirt or just above dirt status.

Oh dear, I didn’t connect that. Stress level rising! I won’t be too miffed if we miss the meet and greets, actually, I don’t like them myself. But my girls will love it, I’m sure.

I appreciate the research! This is where you have the advantage on the West coast. 1/3 of my night’s sleep wasn’t entirely worth it to me knowing that it wasn’t essential. But now I’m kicking myself a little bit.

Set alarms. Have all the photos ready, on several devices if you can. And definitely have several devices ready to go with cleared cookies, etc & logged into the app or web browser.

Go for Royal gathering on one device, start check-in for one stateroom on another. Then start the second room on the device that successfully got Royal gathering (this will require pics ready on both devices).

You can do it! Next cruise they’ll be separate days so just this one stressful one and I wouldn’t stress too much about the port time. If you’re online at midnight you’re ahead of a LOT of other first timers.
Right now on the app your main page once you load your reservations has a section that looks like this:

Once you can book activities though, there will be a new section between My Plans and More Magic that will look like such

Royal Gathering will be under Onboard Fun. You’ll have to pick a day to check for times and your sea day will definitely have times and probably Ensanada day will too. Then you have to select a bubble next to everyone’s names on your reservation and then you’ll be able to click Check Availability and pick a time from a drop down.

Alternatively you can go to the “See Itinerary” under My Plans and it will take you to a day by day itinerary and under each day you can click “Add Activities” and you can see all the same stuff as the screenshot above.

If you don’t get it, those same princesses will be available for meet and greet at other times on the ship. It would be nice to knock them out all at once though.

Just be sure to write “NO SALES PITCH” on your massage check-in form…and then hope they pay attention to it.

A lot of people are skipping spa treatments on ships now because a) they can get better and less expensive treatments on land and b) there is always a hard sales pitch at the end - often even if you have put “NO SALES PITCH” on the form.

Unless, of course, you want them to sell you something. You’ll be their dream cruiser in that case.

DH got his first massage on the Fantasy on Embarkation day last year. He comes back to the room talking about how awesome it was and that he bought some bath salts. I checked our room charges and those bath salts were $212!!! He doesn’t even take baths!!! I was ready to kill him.

I just tell them no thank you while I’m with them :woman_shrugging:t2:

I had no idea they had a sales pitch! Thanks for the heads up. I just want a massage, don’t need any products.
