Just a quick recap of the Disney Dream from Southampton to Florida. I won’t do all the details as it was a very long cruise. The Dream was as advertised a great ship and the cruise was lovely. Very warm all across the Atlantic and no rough seas at all. Lots of flying fish and some dolphin plus the usual assortment of sea birds.
This was only our second cruise but overall we were really impressed with the excellent staff and entertainment. The bonus was that Chris Cox “mind reader” did the entertainment for a couple of days. This was a great show and really impressive, we could not figure out how he got the correct answers. It was also highly entertaining as one might expect. Because it was a long cruise there was a crew talent show and wow there are some really talented crew members, one of the room hosts did a Sinatra song that was outstanding. The Beauty and the Beast show was lovely and there was an opportunity later to talk with the performers and see the puppets.
The only quibble was the the quality of the food in the dinners was sometimes not great…just kind of meh. Sometimes the food wasn’t prepared well like overdone steaks or sundaes that arrived semi-melted. Our server wasn’t really on point either but was super nice, but did seem overwhelmed. And boy does Disney avoid spices in the dinners, they were quite bland surprisingly, though Cabanas had some really good curries at lunch so that was our go to :-). We did Remy which was really really really good and well worth the money. Overall a great trip and would recommend to anyone who wants to chill by the pool, read many books and watch the never ending sea
It was a great show and we had a great time afterwards trying to figure out how you did the mind reading. Very impressive and at the same time highly entertaining.
Thank you for the review!! I definitely want to book a DCL transatlantic cruise but my lowly Silver status has kept me shut out. I’ll keep watching as they release new itineraries.
In the meantime I’ve booked 5 other DCL cruises. Will they have onboard support groups for folks like me?
It’s interesting as this cruise was not sold out, only 2600 passengers for a ship that can take 4,000 and there were some pretty sweet deals. So we are only silver too and had no problems for this particular cruise. I think it was because the itinerary was a repeat one so that there wasn’t too much interest.
There was a robust facebook group for the cruise that I lurked on for information that was really helpful as well and the touring plans forums, site and blogs are very useful too.
