Yep, seriously, four full weeks sharing a house with my father-in-law. What makes it easier is that he is quiet and the house is large, so it is easy to get away and have some space. Also, there’s good old-fashioned German repression of emotions, so if he’s annoyed with us, he would NEVER say it out loud – he just takes out his aggression while unloading the dishwasher. Seriously. “Bang, clink, bang, bang,” ha ha ha! But mostly a good time. 
Oh, and there’s Schnapps! Every dinner ends with two shot glasses of Schnapps! I think that helps too…
