The bus drivers are used to helping people drive the ECVs onto the bus. In fact, most prefer to actually do it by taking control of it. Driving onto the bus is not an issue.
I just watched a video and was like yes, I think we’ll do this party -
No, no we won’t ![]()
This for sure … I would almost just as soon stand in an unreserved spot
You used to be able to check-in early and your selected table
was then reserved. This would give you a table that would permit you to see the vast majority of the projections. Hopefully someone with recent experience can chime in on this.
I’m going to look into it and price one. But I don’t think she’s going to take it. We’ll see, I guess.

oopsie.
Keep checking back bc availability does open up.
Thanks! I was thinking I was out of luck.
This is true of any and all reservations t Disney. People change plans all the time so stuff opens up. Right place, right time and it’s yours!
Good luck! ![]()
Hi @Jennifer_B_568600
I will give you my thoughts since I used a scooter in December after my knee replacement. I rented one but also only used the offsite rental day 1 and then opted for the in park rental day 2. They both have their pros and cons.
Offsite rental: All Stars rooms are small. I rented a small one off site and it took up at least a third of the room. I was surprised by that. I am not sure it works well with 3 people in the room. I wanted to park mine outside, but there was no where to plug it in without blocking my neighbor’s hotel room door. As far as picking the scooter up that process was really easy. It was at the luggage holding area outside, and the Disney worker kindly showed my how to use it properly. They are pretty used to dealing with these, so if you need a tutorial just ask!
I struggled to drive the scooter in the room alone. The door is too heavy, so my advice is don’t send her back to the room alone. The other issue I ran into at a value resort is the housekeeping carts blocking the path. If you are with her then you could maybe move it, but the hallways are narrow and I had to reverse a few times to get to the elevator.
I would put in a TP request for a first floor room. It may cut out some of your walk to the bus if you don’t always have to go the path of the elevator, but it is nice to not even have to mess with the elevator if you have a scooter.
Parks: I see you are considering Cake Bake shop. I agree with using the water taxi if she is renting a scooter in the park. I had my offsite one that day, so I plugged my scooter in outside of the cake bake shop. It is a longer walk than what you think when a disability comes into play.
Also, are you going back to EPCOT after lunch? I ask because if she is renting from inside the park, she cannot take the Disney scooter to the Cake Shop. And if you return via the taxi the International Gateway entrance likely will NOT have a scooter for you to get again. They may have a wheelchair at that point.
I think the cost of the Disney scooter was $85 but you can show your receipt and get one from another park if you are park hopping. They will make you fill out the paperwork each time you get a new scooter. I would bring a towel for her to sit on in the summer. Those seats got hot in the sun.
All Stars is as good as Pop, maybe better. The Pop skyliner for scooters takes FOREVER. Like over an hour each way. I do not recommend it. I have watched many of bus drivers load scooters on in a very helpful way, so I wouldn’t worry about that too much.
If you are renting a scooter in the park, standing on a Disney bus can be an issue and you just can’t rely on people to give up their seat anymore. You could Uber but be aware that the Epcot drop off is past the busses. The best park for ubering is Animal Kingdom, but it doesn’t look like you are going there. I did see parking lot wheelchairs at EPCOT that you can use to get to the entrance.
I am tagging @mathhound because she gave me some solid scooter advice that was very helpful!
Also, at MK I know Jungle cruise and Space mountain put me through a different line (there are steps in space mountain in the standby queue), so just approach a CM to get guidance if you are riding those.
Thank you for all of the information!
We stayed at All Stars in November. I agree with this, and it’s one of the reasons I was mostly OK when she said she would just get one in the park. I will think about that first floor room request. It makes a lot of sense. I usually request highest floor to limit the pounding feet above me, and because I tell myself snakes will get to the people on lower floors first
Don’t tell me any different. Let me have that small peace of mind ![]()
We will probably be leaving Epcot after lunch for a break. I don’t think she will manage all day unless the weather happens to be cool enough. We are used to afternoon breaks in the summer (this is May) but also, we don’t have a lot of time. I guess I’ll kind of see how she’s doing. Taking an Uber back from Cake Bake is probably the best move?
I do worry about standing on the buses for her. If I have to, I can get an Uber. I’m sure Bethany can figure out the App and everything that goes along with that.
Hopefully I’m stressing more than is needed, which is my usual! She and my dad took a road trip from PA out west to Wyoming etc…this past fall with my dad’s brothers. I was having a fit over that and thought it was too much. But they did great and had an amazing time!
She thinks she is riding SM ![]()
But it won’t be with me!
My grandparents were very active until their early 90s. My grandpa was such a thrill seeker. They used to give him strange looks when he would get on the biggest coasters at Cedar Point. He would always scream with delight!
Yes, I think taking an Uber back from Cake Bake is a good move. Also, if there is a parking lot right by your room, Uber can pick up and drop off from there as well.
Those are serious coasters!!
We did this in November to get back to the airport. We were at the very end of the resort with a parking lot right next to us.
Also, I am going to need pics or a trip summary at some point. I just can’t wait to see all the fun you have with your mom and Bethany!
I forgot my scooter several times and would leave an area until someone would ask me where it was.
In MK the train is amazing if she just needs a small break but doesn’t want to stop riding something. It can also take her quickly to other lands in the park.
Brandon has very little faith in us! He thinks it’s going to be hysterical and wants us to do a lot of videotaping. I could see it not being my usual level of smooth trip planning. Like we could easily get lost in the airport before we even start ![]()
My mom is a joy to be around though. I’m sure we will have a great time even if it’s a really different trip than I’m used to.
Also, I now have someone who will wear a matching shirt with me!
When you book plane tickets there is sometimes a place to choose that she will need assistance. That’s probably common knowledge, but I didn’t know it until mathhound told me.
I did not check that she needs assistance! She told me not to, but I probably should have.
It was my first time booking the tickets. Also, the first time with Frontier. Hopefully, we get there OK! I’ve also noticed that the prices are now cheaper, which is annoying.
