I would think so, but even if she’s fine at PGH if you think it will be a problem to get one at MCO just arrange it at PGH regardless. Think about the whole trip, not just each individual segment. I would not want my 80 year old mother walking all the way from the gate to the ground transportation if I could get her a wheelchair and make it easier on her.
I suppose you can’t force her. But I had a similar situation with my mother on a family trip and she eventually gave in - and then paid the higher park rental prices than the offsite. I think if you haven’t been to WDW in a few years you can easily forget how much walking is involved, how the heat zaps you, and how you have (like it or not) aged since you were there last.
Exactly!!
I think it’s going to be harder than she thinks. As a matter of fact, last time (4 years for her) she told me she couldn’t go again in the heat. Now she says, “Really? That doesn’t sound like something that I would say!”
To add to my stress, I ended up in a wheelchair myself during our November trip
Yes, she’s very, very excited. Wants to do ALL of the things! I told her she cannot do ALL of the things because we only have two days
And I can’t add a day. So I want to try and make things as smooth as I can for her.
So true! She keeps talking about things in AK, and I have to remind her that she’s not going there! Bethany and I were talking about how we were going to zip to Disney Springs to grab some cookies and cake for us, and she that she loves Disney Springs and wants to go too
Yes, except I do think she would have trouble driving it onto the bus. And she does want to walk some too. I would say she was maybe 30-40 percent using the scooter on our last trip. I’m definitely going back and forth in my mind over the best option. It it’s very hot (likely) that will make it harder for her.
Bethany and I just grab a snack when we go and find a place for HEA. Do you think it’s worth doing a dessert party for her? I could make that her Mother’s Day gift if I need to.
Dessert party might be a really great idea in this case. You’ll want to select Seats and Sweets, otherwise you’re in tomorrowland terrace just for the desserts but moved out into a reserved hub space - which can still get uncomfortably crowded - for the fireworks itself. Seats and Sweets allows you to stay in your seat in the terrace for the whole show.
I thought about that one. Is the view decent? That’s the complaint that I’ve heard about it. That you can’t see the projections. Or your table is too far back.
I haven’t personally ever bought a dessert party because to me the value isn’t there - but I would say that the value increases when you’re traveling with someone who is mobility challenged
Buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuut… if you have a scooter there are scooter-reserved areas in the hub that would be accessible to her…
That’s right! We tried for those with my dad once, but they were full. I wonder how early they fill up? I’ll have to think about that party.
That girl is getting spoiled…she’s having a big surprise birthday party two weeks before we go! One of her friends mentioned that my mom was telling her that she never had a birthday party And I guess she hasn’t! She grew up well-loved but poor. We’ve always celebrated her and taken her for little get-aways on her birthday but never a party. So she gets a surprise birthday party, Mother’s Day, and then a Disney weekend with her favorite daugher and granddaughter
For the peace of mind and guaranteed easy viewing I would 100% do it. The seated one is only like $10 more and Tunk flies right over you which is priceless.
