WDW resort laundry - non-US cards still an issue?

Heading to WDW in August and trying to plan around a known issue I’ve seen mentioned in a few places: that the company running the resort laundry rooms (CSC) stopped accepting non-US cards earlier in 2026, with the front-desk-remote-start workaround as the main fix.

Has anyone been on property in the last few weeks who can confirm where things stand now? We’re staying at Port Orleans Riverside, Port Orleans French Quarter, and Coronado Springs, so I’m particularly curious about the Moderate resorts - I’ve seen mention of new tap-to-pay hardware showing up at the Value resorts, but it’s not clear whether that rollout has extended elsewhere yet.

Also interested in any firsthand data points for non-US Visa/Mastercard, since most of what I’ve come across so far has been from international guests in one specific region.

Any tips or recent experiences appreciated, thanks!

That’s an interesting problem that I haven’t heard of!

I wonder if it would work to get one of those prepaid debit cards you can buy at a grocery store and load it with $25 or whatever?

There was tap-to-pay at POFQ last month

On theory those should work but those pre-paid cards are so glitchy and sometimes don’t work.

Hi. @melcort10 just contacted me to ask about this. I’m from U.K. Didn’t do paid laundry at wdw as we were in a 1 bed dvc. But did do laundry at PBH at universal

I expected it to be an issue so went to front desk to ask- the guy had no idea that it was even a posdibke problem and just gave me a number to phone in case I got stuck.

Anyway, it worked on my U.K. Mastercard totally normally. And from that previous conversation it’s the same company doing the laundry set up for UOR & wdw.

Not quite the reply you need but hopefully you’ll find it’s all ok too

I’m not sure why that name is still showing here as my login is back to my usual hodg now. Weird. Was a temporary switch 1st as a joke due to people’s typos, then as a disguise for the few days my boss was using TP for touring plans.

For reasons unknown, there never was an issue at Universal, but there was and still is in some resorts in Disneyworld.

A number of resorts still have issues (based on what I read on FB groups from UK.

I think the issue exists where they’ve replaced the washing machines and dryers. The new supplier doesn’t accept international cards.

I would assume that WDW might reconsider their choice of supplier for future laundry room appliances, given the problem. But if the deal is too good to pass on I guess CMs at all resorts are going to have to continue starting the machines remotely.

There is, or was, a branch of Sun Bank near DS. I don’t know how easy it is to get a pre-paid Visa card? I know that branch opens US bank accounts for international DVC members, for paying maintenance fees.

It might be worth it, if you visit WDW each year and like to use the laundry. Not sure I’d bother though!

I’ll stay 8 nights at WDW after a 2-week roadtrip in Floride. I was counting on being able to do laundry in POFQ… I might use the bathtub though if my foreign Visa card is not accepted…

The remote starting seems to be working OK.

Thanks so much for all the tips, everyone - really helpful! :folded_hands:

Apologies for the slow reply: we just spent a few days at our home park, Disneyland Paris, so I’m only now catching up on the thread.

Reading through the replies, it sounds like the situation is still a bit hit-or-miss depending on the resort and whether the machines have been swapped. Good to hear the front-desk remote-start works reliably, and that POFQ now has tap-to-pay - that’s one of our three Disney resorts (PO Riverside, French Quarter, Coronado Springs).

Just to be safe, I think we’ll line up an off-site laundry as a backup rather than rely on the workaround for a 3-week stay. Ideally one with a wash & fold service (pick-up/drop-off would be a bonus).

Does anyone have recommendations or first-hand experience with a good laundry near these resorts? Would love to hear what’s worked for you. Thanks again!
