You should change your last name to Voyant!

This part made me a little nervous:

Disney Jr. Play and Dance! will close beginning September 25, 2025

Until I went back and read this part:

This special nod to the legendary Walt Disney Studios Lot includes our version of the Studio Theater, which will continue to house “The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure,” and over at the soundstage, you’ll find a fresh Disney Jr. show.

My kids are quickly getting beyond the Disney Jr phase, but I love that it still exists for families with younger kids.

I’m already worried that this playground is only going to be for babies:

Our youngest animators-to-be can explore the “Drawn to Wonderland” playground filled with an oversized flower garden with musical instruments, a Mad Tea Party playset and a Tulgey Wood exploration area

I’m…confused. the description seems to be all over the place on this. Is it a character meet area and playground? An actual attraction? Both? Neither?

I guess I don’t really understand what this is becoming.

However, I am glad to see they are doing SOMETHING in that area. It feels forgotten. But…this feels like just a cheap refresh of buildings without much substance (other than the trees…love the trees).

What am I missing?

Here are the pertinent updates:

the current home of Star Wars: Launch Bay will transform into a place where kids and kids at heart can laugh, draw, dream, and explore animated new experiences.

Inside, you will interact with and explore silly takes on the iconic Disney Animation headquarters, including the many different studio departments. Only this time, some of our favorite pals have taken over to create the fun adventures.

The playful and interactive moments will be around every corner. You’ll see portraits come to life before your eyes just like they did in “Once Upon A Studio;” you’ll find inspiration with a short film (with a twist, of course); and you’ll even pencil in some time to learn how to draw your very own character sketch.

Our youngest animators-to-be can explore the “Drawn to Wonderland” playground filled with an oversized flower garden with musical instruments, a Mad Tea Party playset and a Tulgey Wood exploration area, all inspired by the original “Alice in Wonderland” concept art from Disney Legend Mary Blair. It’ll be the perfect whimsical indoor play area for little ones to grow “curiouser and curiouser!”

All of those places to explore and create, and we haven’t even talked about character greetings… and there are lots!

and over at the soundstage, you’ll find a fresh Disney Jr. show.

While exploring the studio grounds and courtyard area, families can take a break to play, relax, or snack on tasty treats under lush trees. And make sure to look around, too. You never know who you might see playing in the branches, soaking up the sun or digging in the grass.

So I’m getting the following:

  • Animation Experience
  • Interactive animation-themed exhibits
  • Kids’ play area
  • New Disney Jr show
  • Character meet & greets

Did I miss anything?

Hmm. Okay. The “interactive animation-themed exhibits” I thought were just part of the kids play area.

If this is all animation related…I’m finding the rebranding of this to “Walt Disney Studios” very odd. It seems like what they are doing is turning it INTO an Animation Courtyard. Walt Disney Studios would suggest, to me, it is more about movie making in general. Also, I find it odd to have an area named “…Studios” inside a park named “…Studios”.

Ultimately, it sounds like it will be a nice area for the kiddos. The interactive/play area kind of reminds me of what they were ATTEMPTING to do over in the Wonders of Life pavilion at Epcot, but got canned, but themed to animation.

I feel this is telegraphing something (who knows what) about the long-game Disney has in mind for future/unannounced changes coming to the parks in some way. Maybe we’ll learn more at Destination D23.

Wonder what’s going to happen to the Star Wars props. It was pretty cool to see a full size speeder bike (oh speaking of, what happened to the little “photo op” speeder bike over by star tours??)

I know the pod racer has been gone a while and the lightsabers too.

Hopefully they’ll be relocated to a “museum” on Batuu. They have a whole unused “hangar” area where it could fit.

I’m imagining that these will be in the area behind the store where you can walk up and down aisles that currently have star wars posters. I think it used to be a queue for something. maybe the theater? was it ever that popular?

oh that would be cool! Inside the area where the current meet and greet / former animation academy is? If there, I would think it’d be a scaled down version - the size of that part of the building is quite a bit smaller than Wonders of Life.

That’s a good idea, sort of. Although, it seems like the unused hangar may be intended for a future attraction (or, as one vlogger documented, left around from an unfinished attraction that was eventually cut from the original SWGE plan).

I like that these changes are making “Hollywood Studios” a more apt name. Maybe we can stave off a rebranding for a while longer.

It sounds to me like they were using the character interactions from Cool Kid Summer to test out how popular this might be and decided it was worth it! HS desperately needs things like this to balance out all the thrill rides so that there are things for younger (or thrill-averse) guests to experience.

In Indoor playground is very much needed and appreciated.

Now bring back Citizens of Hollywood!!! They were so entertaining to watch.

…And maybe the Pixar Parade from many, many years ago.

I’ll be honest that I’m a little disappointed that it’s indoors but I’ll try to withhold judgement for now. We loved the Alice in Wonderland outdoor playground and maze in Paris.

The indoor play area at Mission Space is incredible. Don’t forget that it rains in Florida (I mean, how could you?).

I know! But I, personally, still have the best memories of the Honey, I Shrunk the Kids playground and I feel like indoor spaces just feel different. My kids played forever at the F&W festival temporary playground over by Test Track. I could be swayed if they end up doing something really cool with it and I don’t feel like I’m on a cruise ship!

When it’s hot you need a place where kids can run around in AC.

I agree - it is nice to have some of them. My kids especially love Redwood Creek Challenge Trail at Disneyland (where it rarely rains!)
