Wait times include preshow?

When you time waits, at what point do you stop the timer? Is the preshow supposed to be part of the wait time or part of the ride time?

When you sit down on the ride vehicle. Preshows are still part of the waiting.

Presumably Rise is different? I’d suggest the ride starts in the shuttle.

Nope.

When you sit in vehicle.

Each ride now tells you when to submit time.

Thank you for posting the screen shot. I knew the rides had that information, I just wasn’t sure how to get at it myself.

Well I disagree 100%. Rise is not just a ride. It has two components to it.

I’d be interested to know whether Disney times it in the same way.

Well - it you are single rider you join the line after the preshow, but you still wait.

I always thought by “preshow” it meant where the mission is explained.

Glad I never did single rider then.

correct

I know this because on our last trip we had a day where both times we rode ROTR, they were sending everyone directly into the room where the storm troopers are and having us all walk the length of the room directly into the next waiting area. When I shared that in my live TR, I was told that was how SR joined the ride.

My girls enjoyed the ride, but they did not understand the full back story. Our next HS day, they got the whole experience, but by then the whole “captured” vibe was gone. Sort of. It’s still marvelous.

I meant where you watch the video message, before you get on the shuttle. I assumed that was supposed to be the preshow.

Perplexity explains it better than I can

I think of the preshows as disguised lines. You are still waiting, but (in theory) Disney has made it feel less so. This gives the illusion of waiting less, but you still aren’t on the ride, so it is effectively still a line to wait in.

According to Molly from Mammoth Club, Disney stops the clock at the pre-show. So that’s how I judge it.

But if you were timing your wait for touring plans you would stop the timer when you sat in the black ride vehicle?

TP tells us when to stop for their data. I don’t know if Rise was open when Disney did red cards, but Disney always collected them (scanned for time) but they were always collected as you sat.

That encourages me to add ~10 mins to whatever Disney posts.

If all I got to experience was the pre-show and transport time, I would not say that I’d been on the ride.
The ride is the ride.:woman_shrugging:
And in January at ROTR, we were evacuated seconds after we were seated in the ride car. I didn’t get to enjoy the ride that trip even with the preshow items.

I would follow their directions but especially on Rise, I think the black ride vehicle is off. To me, the ride starts in the pre-show.

Maybe it’s the black ride vehicle because that’s where single riders join?

It’s an odd duck.

Regarding the Red Cards: So, on Haunted Mansion you would have turned it in at the Doom Buggy and not the stretch room?

Yes, at Haunted Mansion you would hand it to the CM at the doon buggy and at ToT you would hand it at the entrance of the elevator.
