I just saw that Volcano Bay is having night events. We’ve never gone to VB, but this seemed really cool! From 7-10 on select nights.
It’s really exciting!
We have it posted, along with other cool events coming in 2025 , in the “Universal News / Planning” thread…
I was waiting to hear about when tickets would go on sale, but it looks like they already did! I am planning to attend the May 17th event so if someone attends one of the earlier dates, I would love to hear how it goes!
Whoops, my bad! I was really excited to post it, lol.
No worries! I hope I didn’t come across as rude.
I’m so sad I’m not going to these!!
If UOR would just give ANY details about when / how Epic is going to be a part of Annual Passes I would renew / buy a new AP…
I wonder how the TapuTapu works with evenings? I know when we leave we always have a ride reservation that isn’t ready to ride yet. I bet that is pretty normal. Seems like the Kraka-whatever ride would be likeliest to have that happen since the wait can get so long for it. Seems like they want to start clearing the reservations at some point.
When we turn in our tapu they just went in a giant bin. I guess they might have a way of clearing those.
This is actually a factor in why that line can get long. The TapuTapu doesn’t reset until the system resets that night. So, if someone got a reservation and then loses the wristband or leaves before using a reservation they still have a place in the queue. It’s not a massive percentage, but it does take up a chunk of reservations for the day.
Personally, I wish there was a 60 minute time limit after you get called back before the reservation is cancelled. I’ve waited 2 hours for slides only to walk on the attraction with no one in line when I arrived. It was this situation that led me to go ask Guest Services why that happens and this was the answer. (This along with people just not going back to the attraction until late in the day even though they got notified hours ago they could ride)
Do we know for sure if the Nighttime event will use Tapu Tapu? I guess I assumed since it’s a limited event, perhaps it wouldn’t be used, bit I’m probably just relating it to a Disney After Hours event.
By the way, I purchased my tickets today for the May 17th event!! Woo Hoo!
Nothing has been mentioned about TapuTapu. I would also presume it won’t be in use that evening
No, not at all! I’m hoping to read some of the trip reports! Maybe, if they go well, they’ll add more nights.
Thanks! I didn’t think it would be used since it’s a limited capacity event
That is super exciting. Limited capacity, limited sun and I could ride Kraka-whatever many times.
In planning our previous trips I’ve wished we could go to the early entry park in the morning, have a lunch/early-afternoon rest and then go to VB. But with Kraka-whatever usually shut down for reservations by that time it wasn’t worth it. Now a VB night could fill that spot.
Darn it. I suspect that our next Universal trip will be a LOT more expensive than the first.
I was curious about the price. Currently $99 including parking and freestyle cup.
One thing interesting is that you can enter at 4pm and exclusive access after 7pm. So, I’m guessing if you entered at 4pm you’d get a Tapu-Tapu but then you’d be behind everyone else for ride reservations. But, maybe you’d have an event wristband and with it could treat any line as Ride Now. Maybe because after 4pm the lines are never long? I’ve never been there past 2pm so I don’t know. I’ll be curious how this works.
I’m not going until May 17th so I will definitely be watching the earlier events to see how it all works out. The first one is April 12, so that’s only 2 1/2" weeks away! I think my game plan as of now is to use the 4-7 time period to find a spot to call home base (with people heading out, I would think it should be easy enough to claim chairs that people are abandoning), then hit the lazy river and wave pool for a while, and save the stuff that has lines for after the event officially starts.
We attended Saturday night’s event and enjoyed it very much! The fearless river isn’t one of the attractions on the list to be open for the event, but it was indeed open all night.
That sounds like so much fun! I wish I could try it at night!
