Visiting the parks on disembarkation day?

We’re sailing on the Disney Treasure in May, our first ever Disney cruise. Then planning a few days in the parks afterwards, staying at the Swan. 2 adults, no kids. Been about 3 years since our last Disney trip. Currently thinking we’ll try to do HS on disembarkation day.

But, not sure what is the fastest/best way to transfer our luggage from the ship over to the Swan, and also not sure what would be a reasonable time to schedule our first Lightning Lane arrival window for. Any thoughts?

We’ve always taken Disney transportation back to a Disney resort. Do the Disney cruise buses go to Swan and Dolphin?

We’ve been at our resort around 10:30-11AM. Our first cruise we were so tired after getting up so early that there’s no way we could have gone to a park. We all took naps by the pool.

Subsequent cruises we’ve gone from cruise to MCO and gotten a day room at MCO. That doesn’t require getting up and being off the ship as early so we were more rested.

I think you’d be safe to make your first LLs for 1:00 to be safe. If you get to DHS earlier you can see a show that doesn’t require LL.

How long is your cruise? Will your LL booking day be at sea or before?

No, DCL transportation doesn’t go to the Swan & Dolphin. I have a February cruise and ran into this when deciding where to stay at the parks pre-cruise.

I’ve heard that getting Ubers from Port Canaveral to the World can be challenging.

If the bus isn’t an option, is my best bet going to be just booking a private car shuttle through Mears then?

I imagine a private car isn’t cheap, but it is probably your safest option. They might offer a group shuttle for a more reasonable price.

Lol, considering what I paid for the cruise, what’s a little more for a private shuttle? I can always harvest a kidney

That’s the spirit!

You could also book a common cruise port shuttle, such as Cortrans.com, which will take you from PC to MCO. Then you can take any other usual MCO to WDW method such as Mears, Lyft/Uber, or a car service.

Yes, it’s a more complicated method but it might save money. :woman_shrugging:

There is the ability to rent a car too BUT we did this from PC and I sat at the curb with kids & the luggage while DH took the shuttle to pick up the rental & pick up us and it was an excruciating 45 minutes waiting there while he was dealing with the line & then having to turn back again when the SUV they gave him instead of a minivan could only fit our family of 6 OR the luggage because it had zero trunk & he had to go back and explain and then wait for them to finish cleaning a minivan. All the while I was waiting, people kept getting picked up by their Away we Go, Mears and other private shuttle companies and I would’ve happily parted with whatever funds (including ones needing to be funded via kidney harvest) to be one of them in that moment.

Also, to answer some of the other practical questions on timing:

We had 2nd dinner seating so our last morning breakfast was set for the later time around 8am. We always love going to that last bfast to see our servers one last time & say goodbye, so we didn’t disembark until a little after 9am. Then after clearing customs DH took off for the rental and I settled on the curb at the pick-up with kids & luggage. Then we drove into Orlando directly to AK, parked and got to the gates at around 12:30pm.

If you do the express walk-off (carry all your luggage yourself as soon as the ship clears customs) you can be leaving even earlier, as early as 7:30am and then get to Orlando before 9am. In that case you could still grab a pastry or other continental type bfast options from the buffet at 6:45 or 7am to still eat something before disembarking. And if you have early dinner, then you’ll be set to sit down bfast sometime around 6:45am and be able to get off closer to 8-ish am.
