I am working on planning out our Jan 2026 trip and VIP tours have become a possibility for us. It would be ideal for my family to have one busier day and the rest of the trip being a bit more laid back.
I guess my basic question is: are the VIP tours worth it? Is there anything I should know about them?
Worth it is a loaded question LOL!
I haven’t done one in WDW but I did one in DLR and we accomplished the exact same number of attractions across the two parks as I did on my own with the equivalent of LLMP (it was Genie+) last year. However we accomplished that in 8 hours versus 16 hours (8am-12am) on my own though to be fair on my own we made three sit down bar stops (Oga’s, Lamplight and Carthay Circle) so it was leisurely.
So worth it is a giant question of cost for value and that’s really personal. One thing I love about VIP Tours (I do them more frequently in Univeral with the group tours there as that’s much more affordable for me) is that I can relax. As the person who gets all the LL’s and has to make sure everyone is where they are supposed to be at the right time, this can be priceless to those of us who are otherwise not having as much relaxed fun as the rest of our party. For example, my cousin sent me this video of “me” after our cousins 16 hour day in DLR riding all those rides and making all those set bar reservations. In my case I was the oldest of 6 cousins and her one of the younger ones but it’s the drift!:
Another plus is we did it in half the time. We did our breakfast first when we did the VIP tour and then we did dinner after and our guide would get us snacks in between.
Another plus is the viewing we had for the parade in a chair (and if we weren’t having such a good time enjoying drinks and dinner at Blue Bayou) we would have also had prime seating for the fireworks in an actual chair.
These things are admittedly all amazing. But that cost to value ratio is generally not there for me because of that leap of price for Disney’s VIP tour. But if I made more money, it might be.
The one downside of a VIP tour in my humble opinion as the extrovert in the family is that I end up spending a lot of time chatting with the VIP guides, which is fun and I like meeting them, but it’s less family time. If what you’re looking for is family time, it takes away from that having an outsider in the group.
That’s just my personal experience/opinions for whatever that’s worth to you.
