It’s your fiftieth birthday, for Pete’s sake!
You don’t have to convince me!!
DW had her 50th this year & I think all we did was go to a steak restaurant. She’s not much for those things. She is a real homebody/hermit.
I will say though that she never has an issue dropping $300 - $500 for a steak dinner. This always boggles me. I can make a great steak at home for $30 each. I’ve joked that I could go to UOR for two days for the price of one of these meals!!
Maybe you need to work on your theming.
More often than not it’s for Lobster Bisque. She loves the stuff, but I can’t make it well. I cook a lot of stuff very well!! However, I haven’t been able to get this one correct after multiple tries.
She will drag us to very mediocre & EXPENSIVE restaurants/steakhouses just because they have lobster bisque on the menu.
I’ve told her about the AMAZING bisque at The Palm inside Hard Rock Hotel. As much as she doesn’t want to go back to Orlando any time soon, she has considered it just for this soup!
Filing this away. I love lobster bisque.
They take a bunch of lobster and put it in a bowl. They bring it out to the table that way so you can see what you are getting. Then they pour the warm bisque on it!
@prof tried it when he was last there with positive reviews too!
We’ve talked about this. You are renewing and that’s the end of the discussion.
Correct
Indeed he did. It is the best lobster bisque in Orlando. Now, people often say nonsense like that, but how can they know unless they’ve tried them all? Well, I have. If a restaurant has lobster bisque on the menu I order it. And the Palms is the best. It’s not even close.
If DW had a “good day” at work today I’m really going to bring up the topic tonight!
SHE SAID YES! SHE SAID YES! SHE SAID YES! SHE SAID YES! SHE SAID YES! SHE SAID YES! SHE SAID YES! SHE SAID YES! SHE SAID YES! SHE SAID YES! SHE SAID YES! SHE SAID YES!
Not only renewing & going in December, but also to going in February!!!
Haha awesome!
She asked me, “How important is this to you?”
I explained how much having these trips help me due to my job being a grind. Plus, now as empty nesters we have sooo much free time that I get bored at home too.
She agreed with no objections or concerns and seemed happy that I was happy! Yea!!
Now, I’m just trying to figure out how many days I want to go in December. I’ll be adding in Epcot & MVMCP. Jollywood is a possibility too as my potential arrival dates / time puts me into Orlando late afternoon.
Yay! This is the way it should be.
AND…you’ll get to ride GOTG! (yes, it should be a priority for you)
Very true! To be 100% clear, I never have to “ask permission”. We are partners even though one of us makes way more money. We have to agree on how to spend. This money could be for other household projects, retirement and etc…
I am being a bit selfish, but in DW own words, “Being happy outweighs everything else. I don’t want you to be frustrated or sad for months on end when we have the means to do something about it.”
I’m booked for Tues. 12/3 - Sat. 12/7.
I plan to go to Epcot on Friday 12/6. Typically, there is an Orlando Informer Meet-up that weekend. UOR will close no later than 6pm. I figure this is a good day to be someplace else.
I debated coming in on Monday and doing Jollywood that night. I decided to wait since DLR is still on the books. A lot of what is offered at DHS I can do in Anaheim next year.
I might do MVMCP, but unsure. I feel like I should spend more time at UOR if I’m going to renew. We’ll see!
I admit when I started the conversation I approached it as a 50th birthday trip for 3 nights. Then when agreed on that, I said, “You know for a little more I could renew and stay a couple more days.”
When I had that I said, “Well, I really need to go for at least 4 days to get value for my AP. I’m only going 1 - 2 days now. February is the best time of year to go and I could do a few more dates for “value” . Any objections to that?” She just laughed said, “Nope! Have fun”
A lot of liners are going on the 5th and the 7th, respectively. In general there will be an absolutely insane number of liners in WDW December 5 through 8.
I know what you mean. It’s just a negotiation. These trips aren’t worth as much to her as they are to you (similar with my DH–he could leave them all day long), but she cares enough about you to understand, even if she doesn’t share your feelings Plus this way you’ll be more inclined to help chase the elusive lobster bisque as needed!
Dec. 5 is my birthday. That’s why I’m thinking about MVMCP that night. Let me know if there’s a thread for a Liner meet there that night! I could EASILY be enable to go!
I would LOVE for anyone to tag along with me at Epcot on Dec. 6th too!
Flights & hotels went up crazy prices if I stayed on Saturday night. I’d typically leave on a Sunday, but room rates go up 33% - 50%!
I got a bargain on Aventura - Only $112 per night!
I’ve been telling her to come with me in February each year, The weather is so much better. I did mention the bisque if she wanted to come down then!
There’s the December thread (top several posts); I don’t think there’s a separate thread for any meets (yet).
I would LOVE to see you enjoy your virgin ride on GotG!
You know where I’m gonna be! (Be gentle! It’s my first time! )
We’re coming up on my “deadline” for dramatic improvement with my leg injury. (Aug. 5)
I’ve been in a cycle of resting on the weekends and feeling better, but then moving too much at work. I wake up each workday feeling a little sore and by the end of the day I’m hurting - even doing light duties. It’s the classic two steps forward and one step back dilemma.
I’ve decided to take all of next week off and go on bed rest. I’m hoping 9 days of being at home doing practically nothing will show real results.
However, this eats up all my “spare” PTO. I’ll have enough to still go to Orlando in December, but probably going “negative” on my PTO a bit. This means I’m not sure if I’ll be able to go in February, if I’m still going to DLR in May. My company, even with my 15 years, doesn’t like us going more than a day or two in the red on our PTO.
All of that is “future Larry’s” problems. Right now, I’ve got to focus getting 100% for not only HHN, but long term. My HR guy tried to persuade me into not doing a full week off. He wanted me to come in Tues. - Thurs. for the next few weeks taking multiple long weekends. I felt that would keep me in this cycle of slight improvement followed by aggravating the injury again…
I don’t want to miss HHN - especially since I’ve already bought $1200 in passes with Express!
