How much is it worth to stay in a universal hotel? The Universal hotel I am looking at is $415.00 per night, the DoubleTree for the same dates is less about $200.00 per night, so is the $215.00 extra per night worth the 30 minutes of early entry for the 2 park days? Sounds stupid now that i have typed the question out, but i like early entry.
Which Universal hotel? To me a a DoubleTree is more like the prime value hotels at Universal. I’m not sure this is apples to apples. At $415 per night are you getting express pass for free? Early entry is 1 hr.
Thanks for letting me know about early entry being 1 hour. The hotel is Aventura, so know express passes would be included.
Personally, I wouldn’t pay $415 for Aventura for a regular room. That seems high. But all depends on when it is. I find transportation to be another factor that makes on site a good value to us and availability of food vs a traditional hotel. I’m sure others can speak to the value of Aventura.
I just today contemplated off site vs onsite. I was looking at Hyatt (in between both campuses) and Adventura/ Sapphire Falls /Cabana Bay in order to use the Water Taxi to the 2 OG parks. I do plan on park hopping for OG parks to Epic 2 days. I added all the costs for Ubers since we wouldn’t have a car. If we did, I would have to look at parking fees.
I would rent Hyatt on points.
My DH needs to take breaks from walking. So I had to factor the walking through CityWalk vs. using the water taxi at Sapphire Falls. The onsite price wise is Sapphire Falls>Aventura> Cabana Bay. If walking we not a consideration, I would have stayed off-site for points to save the $$ and dealt with City Walk. But I’ve stayed at Hard Rock before and the water taxi is so nice! I don’t know if I want to deal with City Walk in the mornings. If walking were not a consideration, I would also look at Cabana Bay for the low price, cool theming, Bus to Epic and I we could walk across the street to Sapphire Falls water taxi. But I had to ultimately cross CB off for the long morning walk to the water taxi.
If the theming at Aventura were appealing to me at all, I would have picked that for the price savings over Sapphire Falls. The walk from Aventura to Sapphire Falls water taxi is 10 mins at most (and most likely just 5). But I just couldn’t get past the theming so I chose Sapphire Falls.
The early park entry doesn’t even play a part. We are purchasing Xpress Pass for a few days.
But I booked an AP rate. I have it from quite a few liners that they do not check. Worse case, they charge me full price and I deal with it and chalk it up to experience.
Thanks for your insights.
