Universal Addict Went Out West! DLR / Knott's / USH - FanFest (Wrap-Up)

I love the ride (wouldn’t say “favorite”) but that is how I feel about the queue for sure!

Hope you are out of there soon! Make sure to tell the CM your sob story if they try to reject you. Say you entered a 70-minute line for Soarin’ that ended up being X min.

The most annoying bag check is at the Disneyland Hotel entrance to Downtown Disney. I just wanted to pop into DD to exchange a shirt size at a store while DH was still asleep. I forgot that early morning was full of people trying to go to the parks! Newbies, strollers, etc. Long lines. Only two lines were open! :rage: It’s not fun getting in that mix when I’m just going to a shopping mall!

But it helps people when moving between the parks and DTD! No more security, just slide into “the mall”

120+ minutes…

I’m out… going to DL for what I can do

And that is my preferred bag check! I hate the one on Harbor, it is so crazy busy and the lines get so backed up.

Ugh! So sorry Soarin’ is doing you dirty like this!

I really would explain the situation to a CM at the taps. They have the power to override and most of the time if you stay calm and are kind to them, once they know the story, they usually will make it right.

Oh wow that is crazy! Sorry that happened to you. I rarely do standby on rides that have LL, because the LL always gets priority. It sounds like only 1 of 2 theaters are open, same as last weekend.

Dang! I can’t believe they left it at 70 for a 120+ min wait! :flushed:

Totally! And I am wondering what actually happened to make it an actual 120+ minute wait, and why didn’t they make any announcements. They are usually very good at getting over an intercom and explaining that it will be a delay so people can adjust their plans. Especially when things go down.

I am, typically, the same in regards to standby. However, I must be naive to think I can trust a posted wait!:shark::shark:

My frustration comes from a couple things

No changes to the wait in the App

No announcement about delays

The wait was almost double the posted time & not in just terms of 30 minutes became 50

I could have waited for a ride I LOVE that did post a 120 minutes. Instead I did a ride I don’t like to “check it off a list”

Soarin is just a big screen with feet dangling in my face. I’d rather visit my local IMAX theatre. That is actually better than this and starts on time.

OK… rant done!! :rofl::rofl::innocent::smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

What did I do??

I left DCA and went to DL… At least Soarin is close to the exit!

Hustled to HM and they let me in with no problems.

I had a LLMP for PoC, but rode it this morning with a low wait.

Mickey’s Mix Magic was playing on the F! water screens so I paused to let some Disney songs soothe me!

I went to Tiana’s instead of PoC, but it was offline. I hadn’t checked the App.

Pooh was empty and he’s my favorite, even more than Mickey. I hopped on to continue to relax.

I kept an eye on TBA, but no luck.

RotR was posted at 35 minutes. That closed out my night.

Afterwards, they directed us to leave via the path to Red Rose Tavern. I decided to stroll around SWGE pretty much completely alone.

Stopped by the Millennium Falcon. It really is beautiful at night.

Being the only person around after a couple good rides washed all the frustration away.

Only about 4 of us in Fantasyland as well. I could’ve hung out there for a while!

Walked to GS to feel heard and get it documented. The CM was nice & promised to get it to the Leads. I just asked they update the App accordingly and / or announce it.

I’m back at the hotel. It feels odd to be “done” at Disney, but still here for two more days!

If we are being honest I hate Soarin too. Been on it 3x total hate every second of it. My DD loves it

You are well within your right to be frustrated on both these counts. And I’m glad you spoke with GS about it in the end.

That is a really good reason to stop for MMM. I’m glad it helped.

Well after your experience with Soarin’ in DCA, I don’t blame ya. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Wow, I did not realize you love Pooh more than Mickey. It’s the same for me too. Mickey’s cool and all and of course I love him, but Pooh bear is just special.

That is a beautiful and peaceful walk.

It really, really is so beautiful.

I’m really glad you got this moment after the chaos of earlier.

Right where you started off your day as one of the first there and then ending in the peace of one of the last. There’s no better way than that in DLR.

I hope you have all the best time at Knott’s today and USH tomorrow! I’m excited to still follow long, but my time of being helpful will probably end here. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Good morning!

It’s Knott’s Berry Farm day!!

I changed the title of my TR to reflect that I am no longet at DLR.

I bought all add the upgrades & add-ons for research and to hopefully make my once in a lifetime visut as easy & fun filled as possible.

Today, has a few things on the agenda.

Other than Knott’s, I have a 9:20pm reservation at Trader Sam’s. I don’t know if I am going, but wanted the opportunity available.

Also, there is a local churro stand that is supposed to be a local favorite

Don’s Churro

I promised my DW I would go there. Churros are her theme park treat and this would have been the thing she would have looked forward to the most if she came along.

I am going to get churro at Knott’s as well. Then a churro at Universal (even though my experience says Universal sucks at churros)

Then I’ll crown the churro King of California!

I’m glad I stayed up a little bit late last night packing and organizing. As I slept like a rock! I heard people outside leaving for RD, but it barely phased me. I’m a light sleeper, so that means a lot for me!

I set my alarm a little earlier than I truly needed I got up about 30 minutes too early. Knott’s is only 10 minutes away and I doubt I have to get there an hour before RD.

I have the Premium Dining Plan. I get my choice of entree with side or a premium snack every 90 minutes. I am going to try to optimize this to try ALOT of options. I get a soda every 15 minutes. My soda addiction is THRILLED! I gave only had 3 or so each day this week. Mu usual consumption is way more. (Sadly)

If wasting food bothers you then you may not want to read today’s TR. I can’t eat every bite & eat all day. I am going to have to sample and toss things.

I did get the Photopass as well.

If you have any Knott’s questions or curious about anything let me know!

It was good to get here a little early. I had to go to a photopass booth to set up the account.

Also, I was allowed to start using the dining plan before park oat the Ghost Town Bakery.

Warm Boysenberry pies for breakfast

Are you going to share your running tally of Diet Cokes and other sodas?

I did a lot of research for Knott’s before visiting. There are a few dedicated Knott’s vloggers, but none of the are as well done as the mainstream Disney/Universal vloggers.

Nobody has a “beginners guide” to Knott.

What I pieced together was it might be best to avoid the major attractions at RD and go to the other mid-level coasters / attractions.

I equate it to going to Fantasyland first at DL.

Just for you! :joy::crazy_face:

Diet Coke Tally - 1

I am timing the waits to see if the Knott’s App is accurate or not…

I did a slow loading family coaster first. (Sietra Sidewinder) It was very fun.

Now in queue for a bigger coaster that is near and a little older. Silver Bullet

I couldn’t find food stand or I would be on soda #2

I’m sure thete is one around, but I’m still getting my bearings

Posted wait is 15 minutes

Actual wait - 12 minutes!!

Sadly, I am having trouble finding any place that is open. I asked a TM. They said a lot of places don’t open until after the first hour of operation.

Frustrating, but no big deal… that’s in 15 minutes. I’ll “make up” for missed soda later!!

In queue for Jaguar. App says 15 minutes. The sign ar the ride says five. However, it’s just a number stuck with velcro to the sign. It probably hasn’t been updated.

Now, that Knott’s and Six Flags are the same company I am already seeing similarities in Operations. It’s making me nostalgic!
