I’ve built a custom touring plan for 12/21/2024 at the Magic Kingdom. I find it hard to believe it’s possible on a slow day, let alone the week of Christmas. These times just can be right. Can some of you look at it and give me your opinions?
I’m not sure the first link worked.
Neither link works
On your custom plan, click “edit”
Then, in the header, click the box that says something to the effect of “make this plan shareable”. It will generate a link, and that’s what you should share here
Did that one work?
Yes. I’ll have a look
Thank you. I have another one for the next day that seems just as crazy.
Well the first thing I notice is your plan times start at 630am??? I don’t know that MK ever opens at 630am???
That right there would give you some really unbelievable wait times. Like, crowd level zero! And even if it were real, the number of people who will RD a 630 opening is small which would keep waits very short
Your plan also seems to end around 1130am which is when peak crowds will have gathered. So you’d dodge them completely
But I think your park hours are off, allowing you entry before the park is operational. And I think that explains most of it.
Haha well I was coming here to say something similar. Heck ya you can get a lot done if the park opens at 6:30! The only thing that I would hesitate to believe would be Haunted Mansion at 10am. Those wait times shoot up fast.
Also, I always thought the advice was to do Big Thunder before Splash/Tiana because Tiana’s is such a long ride that it gives more time for the lines to build. But I also would never expect it to be open/running at 7am so that could be a wrench.
If you look, Touring Plans says the park opens at 7am and EE starts at 6:30. And yes, call us crazy, but we would rope drop at 6:30.
Are those times in Touring Plans wrong?
Not wrong, just a guess. And the guess isn’t very reliable. Disney hasn’t released their own official hours yet (and their hours will change several times) Look at last year’s for comparison. Saturday, Dec 22, 2023. MK opened at 8:00 am with EE at 7:30. I agree with using last year’s real hours instead!
They are merely estimates. I don’t see any days in that week last year when the park opened at 7am (with EE at 630)
Ok, that makes sense. I didn’t realize they were estimates. I will adjust for a 8am open.
Makes you wonder why TP would make those estimates!
One thing I would do in general is change it to “relaxed” walking speed. It has you getting between attractions a little too fast. For example, Tron to Buzz will not be 2 minutes because of the long walk from the exit of the ride all the way down the ramp. The software is pretty aggressive with how much time it will take you to experience the ride (1 minute) plus all the ancillary stuff (checking bags in and out, ramps, loading and unloading time) that isn’t directly accounted for. Doing relaxed walking speed will help pad the schedule a bit.
In general I agree your wait times are too short. Not sure what’s up.
I had a day this year when TP predicted EE for AK would be at 6:30… it switched to 7:00 a couple of weeks before.
I generally used “very relaxed”, because that gives more wiggle room for things like bathroom breaks and popcorn refills.
I do the same thing. I’d rather have extra time than feel rushed. I add extra time to any breaks that I schedule and meals. Sometimes it just pours down the rain and you wait under cover just in case it lets up.
