Hello all! I’m a new TouringPlans member and already grateful to have this awesome resource.
We’re booked for the Yacht Club in January, and wanted to understand if our resort view king bed room is likely to have a tub or not.
The TouringPlans room finder function suggests most rooms are shower only. But this video tour we watched suggests that most rooms have a combined shower/tub.
Does anyone know what the latest and greatest is on the shower/tub situation at Yacht Club? Thank you in advance!
The Touring Plans room finder uses the most current data for room configurations as provided by Disney. Other than some occasional anomalies, the data is very accurate.
I’m not familiar with the organization that created the video you cited above, but it is possible they have not been updating the video to keep pace with Disney’s refurbishment of their properties
Looks like the video was from 3 years ago. The rooms were redone this year and I’ve seen room tours showing a walk-in shower. Whether there are any rooms with a tub I’m not sure.
It’s actually the official Disney Travel Agent YouTube page. I use it frequently for my guests who want to see a room layout.
But, it’s difficult for anyone - even Disney - to keep pace with keeping videos current while there are so many changes all the time. I do caution - unless the video is extremely current. - that there may be some aesthetic differences.
That said, I would argue that a walk in shower v a tub/shower is more than aesthetic.
In this case the video in question is three years old so I would put less weight on the details of the video including this specific question and would rely on other, more current information for that.
I found several more videos from within the last year of refurbished rooms and it looks like based solely on this sample of videos that king rooms only have a walk-in shower. In fact I found one video that was right on that 1year bubble that was not refurbished and even then the king room was a walk-in shower.
Looks like you’re more likely to get a walk-in shower in that category of room.
By the way, here is my own room tour video of a resort view king room at Yacht Club, from just this past June:
Not sure why it’s displayed that way - I swear it’s my own real video!
Thanks so much for going down that rabbit hole – super helpful! Seems like a safe assumption is that the default will be a walk-in shower with no tub, so that’s good to know going in.
According to the room finder, it looks like there are only 2 rooms in that category with tubs. We generally prefer to have a tub, but based on the discussion, my worry is that those rooms might be less renovated or otherwise less good. (The reviews for one of the two are mixed.) If we decide to request one of those anyway, I’ll be sure to report back for posterity! Thank you again!
Almost certain that the renos to the rooms are complete. They are working on facade now and think that’s all that’s left
I personally loved my YC reno room. What are your concerns? Maybe I can help out them to rest? The reviews on that specific room are unique to that room
Here are my room photos from YC in June in case my weird video link makes you leery of clicking. (Click the photo for the full album)
Just as a general note, whenever I am looking for room tour videos, I always try to find the most recently posted ones from reputable sources. I don’t trust anything older than 6 months, and sometimes less if a renovation is ongoing! So many people post room tour videos you can usually find something that will show what you’re looking for.
I appreciate it! And the room in your video tour looks outstanding. (The video worked just fine for me, and I’m grateful for the firsthand look.)
The TL;DR of my concerns with the 2 resort view king bed rooms that still have tubs are: 1. view 2. space 3. niceness/possibility of less rennovation.
In more detail, the two things my wife cares about most in a hotel room are being able to relax in a tub and being able to enjoy a nice view from a balcony. For the two rooms in our category that have tubs, one is on the first floor, so no balcony, and the other seems mostly to have a view of the roof, so I think unfortunately we’ll probably have to make a trade-off between having a tub and having a balcony with a nice view.
I’m also a little leery of the review I linked for room 4241 which complains about the room being cramped. And I’m also worried that if most reno’d rooms have walk-in showers in our categories, the ones that still have tubs may have mostly been left alone and so won’t be as updated or refreshed.
In even more unnecessary detail, the last time we visited Disney World several years ago, we stayed at the Caribbean Beach and there was some disgruntlement over how chintzy and inconvenient the accomodations were given what we paid to stay there. So as a budding theme park fan, with accomodations going a long way toward my partner’s level of enjoyment of a vacation, I’m really hoping to try to make things perfect for our hotel stay.
Again, my room was very spacious and the balcony overlooked the Porte cochere which was nice for watching people coming and going.
But no tub.
Can you change room categories? Is it that crucial for your wife? Truly, except for the rooms with big deep soaker tubs, no tub at WDW is very fantastic
I’ve only stayed there once but my room was in that general area, albeit on the opposite side of the building facing the driveway basically. I thought that area was fantastic for being near to everything. So while I can’t speak to this specific room I can endorse that I think you’ll enjoy the location if you get it. Don’t lose sight of the fact that a request is just a request and not a guarantee!
In August 2024 we stayed in room 4151 (queen beds, and I think a tub). It had an amazing view of the pool, a bit of the lake and faced Epcot so we could see fireworks. Technically, if you looked straight ahead, you saw the hotel, so it was a resort view. But, with the slightest turn of the head/angle of the chair, we had an amazing view. I’ll try to attach some photos from our trip. The ones on the TP room finder do not do the room justice (I should post photos there too!).
Sorry, I should have added I think from the map (if I read it correctly) this room was close to where they were looking. One floor up and a couple rooms down.
