Trouser rant — and panic!

WHERE WHICHEVER YOU WANT! NOBODY AT THAT PLACE WILL NOTICE OR CARE. I realize people on here have very strong and varied opinions on this, but I’m here to tell you I don’t care. Pack an outfit, put it on, and go have fun and enjoy your very expensive meal.

Having totally lost control of the budget the other night when I started booking rooms at the Poly, I’ve sort of promised myself I’ll only have seven courses and not ten. I’m certainly not having the caviar. I may shell out for the posh beef.

This entire discussion is making my day.

LOL.

Because provided you wear a dinner jacket, it’s true, no one is truly going to notice if your belt and shoes are mismatched.

But you DID ask, and it IS fun to discuss clothing. says the girl who owns as much formalwear as any Hollywood starlet :joy::joy:

@profmatt - i was totally ok with the chinos when you said wingtips. if you wear the suede, my opinion might change. All jokes aside, no one will notice if your belt and shoes don’t match. Yes, there’s principle, but you seem a little rebellious. Go with it!

I might call V&A and inform them.

I can call my people and give them a heads up, and see if they will make him match his shoes to his belt…

LOL!!!

Agreed!

BREAKING NEWS

I’ve just had the “call”!

Someone from V&A called to confirm my reservation and discuss details. I told her exactly what I planned to wear and she had no problem with it.

One interesting detail: you are allowed to take your jacket off in the dining room provided you are wearing a long-sleeved shirt. If you’re wearing a short-sleeved shirt, then the horror of your naked forearms requires they be covered by a jacket. I wonder if this has something to do with tattoos.

OBNURSE will be pleased to hear this! I guess if she has an issue with men’s naked forearms as well? :face_with_monocle:

Clearly you didn’t mention the non-matching belt and shoes…

Clearly.

On a totally unrelated note, is there any way to block a poster?

My dinner at V&A is tomorrow (Wednesday) and I’ve finally found an outfit combination that I’m comfortable with.
