Transparent Bags and Backpacks

Hi there! In the past, we used to bring transparent handbags and backpacks to skip the checking point where Disney searches your bags. Does this still work?

If you don’t have things in your bag that will set off the security scanner (umbrella, sunglasses case, etc) you don’t need a clear bag. You can walk through the scanner with your bag intact.

If your bag is flagged you go to the counter and they inspect it manually.

But absolutely everyone has to go through security.

Wait. I worded that poorly

Nobody needs a clear bag.

Everyone goes through the scanner.

A clear bag will be hand inspected if it sets off the scanner just as any bag would.

If there’s nothing in your bag that sets it off - clear or otherwise - you’ll just walk through the scanner and be done

I will add that in my experience this week, the scanners at MK went off on my tiny little water bottle bag almost every time, but it only set them off one time between all my visits to the other parks.

Yes. I only got bag-checked once. At MK. And I had a backpack full of electronics and an umbrella.

A bit late, but adding on for any future readers. One tip I’ve gotten is that if you’re bringing an umbrella, take it out of your bag and carry it in your hand as you walk through security.

I got bag checked a few times due to the umbrella and someone (I think it was the security guy) recommended carrying it in hand. Did that the rest of the park days and did not get stopped once.
