Trader Sam's and 'Ohana ADRs

Hi all,

I could use your infinite knowledge for my DD upcoming 21 b-day trip as my 60+adr is fast approaching. She’s not a big drinker so more quality vs quantity thing. Originally thinking we would drink around the monorail but given it’s July and hot as blazes, that may be cut down to TS/ER - then onto fireworks at MK.

We are checking in (to the Poly) around 3pm on her actual birthday and all she really wants is to go to Trader Sam’s. But she’d also like to eat at ‘Ohana, if possible.

Should I:

  1. Grab an ADR for around 6:00 for ‘Ohana for 3 and hope we can get into TS before/ after then? If return time is around 6, run upstairs and ask to modify our ADR to accommodate?
  2. Not get an ADR and try to walk up right after checking into TS for a “Linner” around 3:30?
  3. Another option I have not yet considered.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

What day of the week?

I would get your name on the wait list at Trader Sam’s as soon as you arrive at the Poly. I’d guestimate you’d have at least a 2 hour wait if not more.

As far as an ADR for Ohana, I think I would schedule an early ADR for around 4:00-5:00 and then another for 7:30-8:00. If your wait time for Trader Sam’s is short and you get in quickly, then head upstairs and tell them you got in to Trader Sam’s and you need to cancel the early ADR.
If the wait at TS will be several hours, you can eat during the early ADR and then cancel the later ADR online within the two hour window.

Thanks for your input. Its a Wednesday- but 4th of July is that Friday so I’m thinking it will be busier than a “usual” Wednesday.

I read somewhere that Trader Sam’s had been “easier” to get into lately with the opening of Wailulu Bar & Grill. I’m thinking that was a one off personal experience and I am grasping onto false hope.
