Ok, this seems like a far-fetched rumor at first glance, but on the other hand, something has gotta give with Matterhorn. It is simply not going to last forever – the entire structure is a disaster waiting to happen. Thoughts?
One of the issues I thought of with moving Matterhorn is that it is incorporated into the sightlines of the Pinnocchio village in Storybookland. Obviously not the biggest concern, but something I’ve always appreciated.
My back hurts just thinking about the Matterhorn. It would be great to have a new smoother Matterhorn. Not sure where they would put it. Depending on what they do, they may need to reroute the Monorail too.
They will most likely need to move the monorail anyway if they are going to redo as much of Tomorrowland as it sounds like … consensus seems to be that Nemo subs, Carousel of Progress (old building), and Autopia are on the chopping block. Reviving the PeopleMover is a popular idea. All of that could require significant reworking of the land.
Nnnoooo!!! Don’t touch my Matterhorn! That would be as Disney-blasphemous as moving the Castle. They can take out the building that houses Buzz Light Year, or the wasted circular building, but if they move the Matterhorn or make it smooth (it’s a bobsled ride, for goodness sake!), I might have to seriously consider my Disneyland days as over. And what a major disturbance it would be during the construction! Let’s hope this is nothing more than a vicious rumor.
